for the record I still think everyone needs to calm down because the Lucas fight will soon get signed. However, lets just say it doesnt. Lets say that the Garcia's feel that he is in line for a huge money/fame fight wth Mayweather and doesnt want to risk it against Lucas so he decides to go another route. Would you think that is worst then what Bradley did by ducking Khan for the Pac fight? Do you think these guys are really scared of Lucas & Khan or are just making smart business decisions? Can you understand it? Would you do it if you were a fighter or would you just be a warrior and fight anyone at anytime but then maybe lose and never get the big money/fame that you couldve gotten? What if they say that they have no problem fighting those guys but would rather do it after the big money/fame Floyd or Pac fight? That way they get what they always wanted while also making those lesser fights bigger in the process because they now have more exposure. Or are the both just beetches? It 1st worked out great for Bradley as he got the big money/fame Pac fight and actually won. However, its been all downhill from there. Would his career be better right now had he taken the Khan fight and not sold his soul to Arum? Or should he just have fought a better fight against Pac or conducted hismelf better? or did he do nothing wrong and is being unfairly punished? Do you think Garcia looks at what Bradley did by skipping Khan and thinks that is the right way to go espically since he doesnt have to sign with a different promoter since he's already with the same as Floyd, unlike the Bradley-Pac situation
Garcia has no other options. If not Mayweather, it has to be Matthysse. No one else will do. Mayweather is busy with Canelo, so he has no outs. If he doesn't fight Lucas in September, it'll be a straight out duck. I highly doubt GBP would reach out to the Top Rank stable. Either way Bradley, Marquez, Rios, and Pacman are busy. The only free one is Alvarado, but is that really a bigger fight than Matthysse? Lucas vs Danny! It has to happen!
first off...you don't duck khan to fight a much more dangerous pacquiao. that's ridiculous. let's not forget that bradley wanted out of his contract with shaw. had he taken the fight with khan he would have extended his contract with him. imo he made the right move. khan would have been beaten by bradley. bradley is being punished because there were so many ppl on the pac bandwagon (hbo included) and he ruined the big fight between floyd/pac. bradley is being punished for his success...but he hasn't fallen off. he's still undefeated!!! as for garcia...i think he's in the same boat as bradley. ppl underestimate what he brings to the table because he looks ordinary. nothing about him is amazing but he does several things very well and will be a tough fight for anyone. there has been mention of him fighting floyd and if that is the case, i can't blame him for postponing/cancelling the matthysse fight to get the floyd fight. he'll make waaaaaaay more money facing floyd than he would facing matthysse. boxing is a business like no other sport. a loss or even a tough fight will set him back big time financially speaking. every move needs to be calculated correctly.
If Garcia avoids this fight then the top spot at 140 will have been 'officially' unclaimed for how many years now?... If Khan and Bradley fought then it could have been claimed... Bradley leaving and Khan losing just left the division in a sprawl. Since Lucas 'lost' to Devon it's just been a matter of time before he got recognition of his rightful place at the top of the division. Danny must be considering whether it's worth trying to stop Lucas doing what he knows he will do.. and that's take the crown.
bradley was the best at 140 before he left. khan couldn't prove to be the best. danny is the best now. hopefully lucas gets a chance before danny moves up in weight.
I'd say a good 95% of the time these "ducks" are made for business reasons. Guys will duck a fighter just to turn around and fight him later on or fight an equally(or more) dangerous guys for more money. Too many duck calls nowadays. I think it's just us fans taking the easy way out rather than work it out and admit that these guys fight for money. I'd like to think most fighters would like to prove themselves against the best, and most would, but it is secondary to securing the paydays. I don't know how much Timmeh made for the Pac fight but I imagine it is SUBSTANTIALLY more tham he would have made for Khan. Why would, or should Danny Garcia jeopardize somewhere around 10 million bucks to fight Matthysse now? To satisfy a horde of hoople heads on the internet? Chances are, whether he loses to Mayweather or not Matthysse would still be there. The reverse would not be true. Should he lost to Matthysse Mayweather would not still be there for him. Of course the above is all hypothetical. And from a personal, selfish standpoint, I much, much prefer to see guys take on take on meaningful fights and tests. I think most of the te to these guys, it's a case of thinking they can have their cake and eat it too.
