If you're judging on that little clip, you're not getting a good assesment of Zertcuhe. the whole fight is on You Tube. Seriously, some one who knows Lockett better than most of us should watch that fight, and tell us how you think Lockett and Zertuche compare. Ya need to see that Zertuche did have a few good moments against Pavlik. Here's a bit more of the fight.

I'm a fan of Kelly's, but "authorities" like the boxing writer of CBS Sports have all but called Pavlik a bum for taking on Lockett. Citing how hard Taylor was ridden for his lackluster wins against Ouma and (especially) Spinks, he acts like Pavlik is getting a "pass". How do you guys feel about it?

Either way a champ having the odd 'easy' defense doesn't make him a 'bum'.

    STUPID and baseless insinuation.

Calling a fighter a bum for fighting his mandatory is simply moronic.

    He is the mandatory.

Lockett is not a Top10 fighter, but if Cotto can fight Gomez as a tuneup, then Pavlik can fight Lockett.

Plus, Pavlik has beaten McKart, Miranda and Taylor twice. A tune up would be appropiate before another fight against a contender (or maybe Calzaghe?).

No Lockett isn't his biggest challenge but he is a mandatory and "give me a break fight" which I believe every fighter should be allowed to have in moderation

    no...

he needed to stay busy and just got a live body in there until they find a more skillful opponent

It's a WBO 'mandatory' so not sure how mandatory that really makes it.

Bob Arum was quoted as saying that Duddy had been the number one choice, but then it came down to one of Rubio, Lorenzo and Lockett, from which Lockett was chosen.
