Well, he is 31, has enough to retire. Pavlik says he will fight till 30 and retire. Not bad really. It is a tough sport.

Evander holyfield seriously considered retiring after his 1st loss to Riddick Bowe. Would you consider Holyfield weak-hearted?

This kinda knee jerk reaction happens to fighters all the time after a big loss. If he wants to retire then alright, fine by me. He got his shot at the title so why not save whatever brains you got left? Whatever his decision is in the end it doesn't bother me either way.

:think That would be quite a good idea. Guy seems too small for middle. He should definitely consider a move down to 154 if he wanst to keep on fighting.

Enzo Calzaghe blew a lot of smoke up Gary's ass! He force fed Lockett on a diet of "Pavlik's nuthin' special. He just plods forward in straight lines. You're a knock out puncher. You can take him out" He even used examples of Pavlik's style from Kelly's 4th pro fight for Christ sake! Then he fed Gary to Pavlik like my biker buddies feed meat to their pit bulls. He did that in order to get an up close and personal look at Pavlik before he took the chance of putting his own son in the ring with Kelly. We don't know everything that happened, but we do know that after the fight Joe refused to even consider a fight with KP. One can hardly blame Gary Lockett for being a bit disillusioned.

Lockett has never been in love with the sport, and he seems to be financially set. There are also a few other guys off the "C" list who fought Pavlik and then either never fought again, or never won again. Put it all together and one can hardly blame Lockett for considering retirement.

Lockett asked the BBC Boxing Forum "Should I stay or should i go?"

Go check it out and tell him what you think.

Maybe Kelly can send three in a row into retirement.
    Lockett
    Hopkins

Most people can't deny that because Pac and DLH are ELITE they both have excellent defense.

DLH would have gotten decisioned or TKO'ed by Hopkins but until the KO, it was competative.

I think Manny can go the distance which is more than Locket would have been tipped to do BEFORE the fight against Pavlik.

I was against this match, but now I see that we have to give both guys more credit.

It's like Matt Lindland vs Fedor. A win-win situation for Pac and a chance for DLH to shine.
