In 1989, Micheal Nunn was the best middleweight around. His supremacy would continue the next two years,

How would Mike fare tho against the following in the same year?

    Mike McCallum

    Roberto Duran

    Herol Graham

    Sugar Ray leonard

    Julian Jackson

    Terry Norris

Out of all who has the best chance of upsetting Mike?

McCallum had the best chance of those listed. The Leonard that beat Hagler has a good chance also.

Jackson would have a puncher's chance, but in all likely hood Nunn would have picked Jackson apart.

Duran would get clearly outboxed. Too small.

Nunn was physically too strong for Graham.

He would have stopped fragile chinned Norris.

All of these matches could have come off but I believe most chose to avoid the elite Nunn (except Norris & Jackson)

Nunn-Graham: Although both were southpaws, Mike was by far the more coordinated of the two. Mike wins 10-2 in rounds

Duran at this weight and cannot keep up with the class elite

McCallum is more of a match and becuz of his durability, I expect him to make the final round. MM cannot land the big one and is outscored over 12.

Julian Jackson: a very dangerous matchup for Mike and so I cannot make a prediction with certainty

Norris: At this stage, Norris has not yet tested the waters at this weight while Mike is at his peak. Still, Norris' speed would give Mike hell on earth. In the final rounds, I see Nunn closing strong to pull out a split decision

Leonard: This could be another Nunn-Kamabay result. Mike is simply too quick and slick a southpaw, too smart, too motivated, & too dangerous, and does away with his smaller outclassed opponent in Norris-like fashion

I think the Michael Nunn that outclassed Tate would have beaten all of them except for maybe The Body Snatcher.

Mike McCallum - athleticism versus technical ability - a close fight that I'd favour McCallum in but close all the same

Roberto Duran - Nunn is all wrong for Duran

Herol Graham - another close figtht, Graham is so tricky, Nunn a phenonenon physical talent

Sugar Ray leonard - Leonard is far the greater boxer but Nunn the far more physical and athletic at the weight, this is a toss up

Julian Jackson - Nunn outboxes the puncher

Terry Norris - sorry RR I see Nunn's physical advantages being too much for your boy here

PP use your head. Kalambay outpointed MM and then got matched up with Nunn who was even slicker than Kalambay. McCallum can't do nothing with Nunn.

Graham never could win the big one and he sure as hell isnt beating Nunn. I dont even think he qualified to fight him.

And what you talking about "tossup"? You know a fight between Mike & Leonard isnt no tossup! Ray was scared shitless of Mike. He'd be lucky to win a round before mike took him out with his left hand. and make no mistake, Mike would knock him out. In fact, I heard that in training for hagler, Leonard actually WAS knocked out by a southpaw. Mike would kick that ass

Leonard of 1989 isn't going to be competitive with Michael Nunn.

I dont see how either. Mike is all wrong for Ray. he had problems with someone like Larry Bonds (another southpaw but without the talent) in 81, no way can he cut it against Nunn. Fights against slick southpaws do not favor him
