Ultimately he proved to be far smarter and better than Oscar de La Hoya whose personality was exposed as fake.

I don't see the point in the assertion. I never denied that Oscar had a somewhat contrived public image, as did/does Floyd. Neither is a genius outside of a boxing ring — both were excellent in it, Floyd should be considered greater all things considered.

Floyd is a genius in boxing period in the ring and in the business of boxing. Harvard Business School and the top business school like the one I went to, will case study the Mayweather/Haymon model. We cannot underestimate how they changed the economics of boxing. The art of the possible indeed.

Floyd ruined mainstream boxing. If you can't see that, then you have blinders on.

You know guys I'm beginning to believe Olu is just an alt for Leonard Ellerbe. He worships the ground that little con man Mayweather walks on without doubt its true worship

The precious 0 has been quite a thorn in the side of boxing since. There was a headline in my news feed about if Joshua's career is over if he loses to Usyk again. No, cause it isn't. There are still good matches to have with Fury, Wilder, even Whyte again.

There was definitely something intangible about Floyd's later "money" career. Tanks career is stalling and its clear that he hasn't had the financial success. Its a shame because Tank is exciting to watch but he needs to be let off the leash.

I doubt we will see the huge numbers made from fights like in Floyd's later career. With illegal streaming now so much more readily available (and in HD) and casting technology improving i doubt we will ever see huge PPV numbers.

As much as I agree with your post, Mayweather has never been a global household name, unless the term is being used in a very loose way.

Global household names, in boxing, are reserved for the heavyweights and nobody else.

Was very fortunate to have been in an era and beaten fighters that had huge fan bases. Pac, Hatton, DLH. He beat them whilst playing the heel so people tuned in desperate for him to lose. Hoping anybody could beat the guy that beat their hero. Nobody followed him to watch him fight really.

He knew this so never sought to entertain or take risks. Pot shot and rely on judges because people were going to watch regardless.

Hatton said it best after he beat Castillo "you got more entertainment and value for money in those four rounds than you have in Mayweather's entire career'.

We got much entertainment when he beat the living **** out of Ricky Fatton turning Hitman Hatton into the Hit me Man. Really physically abused Hatton the hypocrite who was complaining of the rough stuff inflicted on him.

First billion dollar boxer. Yeah I'd say he is legit no? Made the Urban market love him and the white market hate him. He is a straight G.

    Congratulations, I guess.

Not sure why you're so angry though.

Your post is that of the typical hater trying to throw shade on Floyd’s achievements. When the truth is his fan base was bigger than the popular you call popular fighters with huge fan bases like Pacquiao, De La Hoya and Hatton. I am not angry but what you are saying is total rubbish. Floyd always generated a big crowd because of his ability and charisma. Guys with his type of generational talent and cross over appeal don’t come around just like that.

I don't 'throw shade'. It's an opinion. No need to get emotional about it, he's not paying your bills.
No one gave two hoots about him until he fought DLH. No one cared when he retired the first time around (when PAC became a super star). He relied on gimmicks and hatred as his business model and it worked brilliantly. Let's not pretend people (outside of a few of boxing's hardcore) tuned in to watch him fight.
