Followed him from start to finish, glad he finally got that world title. Notable omissions from that statement...adam booth and hayemaker...did it ever come out what happened there? Some kind of fallout over money?
The fact he didnt mention Adam Booth says a lot about what happened between them. I remember people would call for Groves to go back to Booth but that just wasnt possible when their relationship clearly feel apart completely.
Great career George. You will live long in the memory of every sky viewer thanks to Froch mentioning the fight at least 10 times per show.
Great fighter an great lad. I loved how he wound up Froch , especially in the build up to the first fight and his double decker bus entrace was one of the best entrances of all time.
Its been a real pleasure watching GG. Especially loved the British days, Degale and Smith were great night's for us brits
I went from hating him to loving him and he ended up being one of my favourite boxers to watch. I was there in Sheffield when he won the world title and the atmosphere was awesome. I wish him a happy retirement and all the best for the future.
Always full of heart and classy boxer at times- was very glad he won that illusive title eventually. Side note- Why is Froch such a salty **** still? The fight was years ago...and he won? https://www.skysports.com/boxing/ne...george-groves-retirement-makes-complete-sense "Groves certainly played his part in all that. A big part. He will be remembered for all those mind games and smart words he came out with, but I have to be honest, I never found him funny or clever. I could talk about what happened in the fight at Wembley, but you all know... Everything for a reason." Also said on the video - "He had quite explosive power in his best days, but I think he just went past his best after getting ironed out by me at Wembley"
Froch believes in flat-earth and is a Stephen Yaxley-Lennon supporter, are we really shocked by anything he says or does anymore?
Froch is the Michael Owen of boxing. An absolute mongo of a chap. Funny how George got over being KO'd by Carl, but Carl never got over being made cry live on ringside. Carl is the worst pundit the sport has seen and he's so insecure about his career, which is bizarre. The sooner his ugly mush is off our screens the better. George Groves as a pundit, anyone? I think he'd be quite good actually.
Hilarious how bitter that statement is...even now he's embedded under Froch's skin... He felt he was on a different level to Groves and though he won it was evident he wasn't from those fights, he hates that. He could do with developing some humility...maybe he would have if he had been ironed out.
