He is a massive, if not, the single reason why british boxing is healthy today.

He sold that fight and rematch with Froch and the nationw as behind him and everything else followed after that.

    All the best, Saint.

Adam Booth has a nagging personality. He also tries to play mind games with you too as well as one-upmanship games constantly.

    Huge respect to Groves
He went from one of my despised Boxers to one I gained a large amount of admiration for
    He could box really well
    Had good power too

Good for him getting out while he can

Congratulations on a hard and well earned career that most of us could only dream of having.

Your career was a roller-coaster of highs and lows. What a talent. Without doubt making the correct decision by retiring. Hope life treats you kind and you find new ventures away from fighting. All the best.

I love the fact that George lives inside of Froch's head rent free. Froch won the fight but those mind games that George played with him will haunt Froch forever and have exposed him for the petty small minded Flat-Earther fool he is.

For this alone, I'll always be grateful to George.

PS: I remember this video that George released on Youtube to f*ck with Froch's head in the build up to their first fight

he's doing the Eubank/DeGale fight, which i think will be hilarious if he does his usual dry little digs.

I’ve watched the saint fight live more times than any other fighter. I cheered that decision over degale at the o2 like it was my own (although speaking objectively degale deserved the nod)

Groves career peaked in round one of froch I and was downhill from there, when the super series was announced I went on record on here that his career wouldn’t outlast the tournament as he was a “shot fighter to my acute eye” and a “ko waiting to happen”

This announcement has come a little too late to my tastes with the fighters well-being in mind and I hope he is able to enjoy the retirement he deserves.

No other man alive has suffered a double cobraing, let alone then going on to suffer a twelve round war with young CHRIS resulting in loss of limb for good measure.

    Respect where it is due.

An underrated Groves moment when he iced Kenny Anderson. I enjoyed that.

As a fan of his, I'm sad to see him retire, one of my personal favourite fighters. But I'm glad to see him retire from boxing rather than boxing retiring him. Great boxer, heart of a lion, and very likeable chap. He gave us some great moments and can be very proud of his career. Enjoy your retirement champ!

A lot of these new breed of fighters could learn a lot from him.

Smith, Degale, Froch, even Eubank (although that was sort of imposed). He weren’t scared to mix it with the best domestically. He took his L’s against Froch then another against Jack but stayed in there and eventually came out on top and got that world title. He was UK p4p number 1 for me before the Smith fight.

I was a massive fan of Froch, the boxer but he really is a bit of a knob. A narcissist, terrible pundit, and his snide wee digs against Groves on the day of his retirement just shows he's still bitter about Groves for getting under his skin, making him crumble on Ringside, and putting him on his arse in round 1 of fight 1.

You would think Froch would have the closure needed with having 2 wins over him, one of which was a spectacular KO. But it seems like Groves got under his skin and into his head to stay. Rent free, as they say.

I always assumed Froch was quite bitter about Calzaghe, but he barely mentions him anymore and, to be fair, Joe has pretty much vanished.

That said, it wasn't hard by the time Froch retired that the old Calzaghe v Froch argument had arguably been put to bed; Joe was the better boxer, Froch had the better career, and their times never really crossed as close as they could have done to make a fight between them particularly likely.

But I don't get, for a second, how a guy like Froch (rich, model wife, young family, multiple world champion, beaten god knows how many world champions) is so thin skinned about a guy like Groves.

Fair play to George. He's had a great career and is getting out at the right time. I'd love to see him do more pundit/commentator work. Always comes across very well and seems a smart guy. An ideal replacement for Froch funnily enough.

Decent boxer and seems a top fella but for me all my Groves memories are quite neggy..

    Squeezed past DeGale
Emptied his tank in Froch 1
Got knocked cold on his own leg in Froch 2
Badou Jack smashed his face in
    Quit in WBSS final

Fair play to him for what he achieved but not even a UK great, certainly not a Worldy
