Not sure how this fits into the conversation here but I noticed a German fan wearing a St. Louis Blues jersey in the crowd the other night. lol! I thought I was seeing things there for a minute... Maybe a troop based there possibly? hmm.....
Dimitrenko is well hated in Germany for he is a dirty fighter and he allways overestimates himself. However when Chagaev was fighting W. Klitschko they where booing Chagaev. I live in Germany since late 2005 and they are realy nice people. alltough they tend to overrate their own fighters often but we usually do the same.
The German boxingfans could just aswell be at a footballmatch or Schlagerparade, they are just out to have a good time. They dont seem to be that much into boxing, they clap in the same way if they see a great fight or a boring Ottkelike fight. Also they would never boo at a unfair result, or a unfair referee. Not because they are evil, but because they dont get it(Germany dosent have a critical sportspress). The immigrants that cheer for a boxer with same origin, are much more hardcore.
Usual british bashing i see! Well put it this way...fat mick(frochs promoter) put on a very **** undercard, made the crowd be in the arena i think by 11 pm? Then to top it all off he fight was delayed by 45 minutes due to american tv. I dont know about you but Id be pissed off..add that to a **** load of drink = RAGE! We are the most loyal...Fact!
That is complete nonsens. Did you see the Chambers-Dimitrenko fight? The german crowd went mad when it was announced that the result is a majority decision. Stupid comment by you.
I have seen plenty on ARD, ZDF and a few on RTL, and i stand by my oppinion. That You can find one example with a foreign fighter says nothing. Lets hear about Graf, Halmich, Huck, Sturm and/or Ottke...
you may be right about your first point, they wanna go out having a good time. Ottke was a really boring fighter, but he was one of the few german Champs, so obviously he was cheered on by the home crowd. I do think they boo at unfair decisions for example Valuev ´s gift decicion wins.
German boxing events are typical see and be seen events. Lots of 2nd class celebrities, like Boris Becker and company. That's why alot of people are dressed up like they're about to go to a theater.
Maybe it's also a nationalist thing? The Brits were cheering for a Brit and the Germans were cheering for an Armenian. National pride is national pride.
