Wasn't long ago where you couldn't go to any boxing site and not see numerous articles re GGG. YouTube and other social media was talking about Golovkin non stop. Seems like the gridlock at 160 and the canelo stall has cooled the fire. Throw in Wade and Brook as opponents in 2016 and it makes sense interest has waned. UFCs explosion isn't helping either as many casuals are saving their PPV dollars for Ronda and Conor.

Canelo can stall out GGG til 2018 and beat a faded slower GGG. By keeping Golovkin at 160 it slows Golovkins momentum even more as the division is a wasteland. There are challenges and decent challengers at 168. I myself have lost patience with GGG and am glad that we have Krusher, LOMA, Spence, Thurman. Etc etc

Yeah, crazy how people would talk about him more when he had a fight on the horizon...

Say GGG fights Lee, Heiland or Tureano Johnson. You think there would be as much buzz as there was before? In LA he may draw 12k people versus 16k versus wade.

I can see both sides of this. Yeah, of course people will stop talking about him between fights and, yes, the chatter will pick up again, once we get closer to his next bout but I do think, generally, people who follow boxing closely - even those who are big GGG fans - are starting to cut through the marketing and look at what he's actually achieved between the ropes. He's a great fighter, no doubt. But the hype got way out of sync with what he's actually achieved. There's been a realignment between perception and reality, that's all.

When he fights again, the buzz will start back up.

He just needs some good names in front of his fists! Nodoby wants to watch him dismantle overmatched opponents llike Tureano Johnson! GGG is the real deal,a true p4p fighter but he lacks worthy opponents of his steel. And the ones who are worthy dont want to fight him.Tough for him!!

I'm glad for it but as a fan of boxing why would you want Canelo to face an aged Golovkin, makes no sense,I'm not pretending those business decisions aren't made in boxing but surely that's for the boxers themselves to worry about,as fans we should always want the best to fight the best or else it's us who get burned in the end and are left shaking our heads and wondering what might of been as with Floyd v Manny.
That said GK I fear you're right about Canelo waiting his time infact they're all at it in that middleweight div, look at Eubank Jr. And Saunders of late, personally unifying all the belts doesn't mean much if the way is paved by cowards, maybe I'm in the minority in thinking a fight with Canelo will be a close fight

It is tough for him, rember he was being avoided when he was in Germany and with each KO he gets more feared, that said I've never been a fan of k2,if it means paying more than usual to get the fights made then get it done,I'm not a fan of paying em all danger money but I fear it's gotten that point

Yup. GGG's career is just too boring now. Can you imagine if Lomachenko were to stick to fighting mere contenders for years at 126lbs whilst everyone continues to duck him there, and he didn't move up or anything. He shouldn't have to move up at all but he's got to be willing to pay the price for staying at the weight class.

Going for the likes of Wade and especially Brook was just a bad look. How long do we have to wait for GGG-Alvarez? When it happens, then it'll be brilliant but in the meantime, we're being spoiled by UFC, getting dream fights left right and centre.

I believe he's going to end up as HOF for most title defences + KO % + being ducked by 17 champions at MW and counting, but with that said, I'm not so sure he even makes my P4P list. If he beats Jacobs then he's probably around 10th.

Money is the name of this game.I very much doubt that K2 is more generous than any other promotion out there.
The only people who truly spend big money on their boys are rich russian oligarchs(like the one who promotes Povetkin).

I'd love for GGG vs Canelo to happen in May 2017! Should have happened this September. Now what I want and what will happen are 2 different things.

Outside of GGG, no one presents a KO threat to Canelo. At least in the next 5 years.

The May date will most likely be Saunders, but I do have a strong feeling 2017 will be the Canelo/GGG year!

Yep! The whole disgusting division is doing a student body left around the guy, waiting for age, injury or natural disaster to do the job for them. They are probably in Big Bear right now trying to bury GGG alive under an avalanche in Abel's gym.
