so in the cotto vs lara thread a poster said that Cotto should excite the fans and fight GGG.

I'm not calling him out because thats his opinion but why would anyone suggest cotto/floyd/pac has to fight GGG (who probably enters the ring at 180-190) when GGG hasn't EVER mentioned going up to 168 to fight anyone.... let alone someone in the top 5 @ 160.

Can someone clear this one up for me?

This has been cleared up multiple times already. I kind of wish people would stop starting the same thread over and over.

    Your statements also arent accurate.

But regarding Cotto, he is currently claiming to be the best 160 pounder. He holds the belt. Its pretty simple. If Cotto vacates like he should then no one wants to see him get killed by GGG anymore.

Because you weigh in the day before and there is always going to be weight advantages on fight day.and GGG enters the ring at around 170.i hope I cleared that up for you.

Cotto holds the lineal MW title ffs. Golovkin is the #1 MW contender. It's not outrageous to call for Cotto to defend against GGG.

Also, why should GGG move up when he still hasn't cleared out his MW division and doesn't hold the lineal title yet?

how in gods names did you come to the conclusion that GGG enter the ring in the 180's?

thats what light heavyweight weigh in the ring and GGG is a small to average size middleweight

Mayweather/Pac don't have to fight Golovkin, and Golovkin would deserve 0 credit for those fights. And Golovkin doesn't weigh 180-190 on fight night  he's roughly 168-173 ish I believe.

Don't call Golovkin a small middleweight lol

He has fought a top 5 middleweight, Daniel Geale, at the time he beat him he was #3 as ranked by the Ring (now #4), up to #1 at some other points in his career. Matthew Macklin as well who was as high as #3, although at the time of his fight with Golovkin he was #6.

Not to mention he was scheduled to fight Dmitry Pirog, another highly rated middleweight before his unfortunate back injury. Murray if I recall correctly has also been ranked quite highly in the past, although he's dropped now to #6.

i said small to average, and what would you class as a small middleweight as a matter of interest?

Golovkin didn't force Cotto to move up to MW.

Well... Golovkin would be "average". I guess small would be like Stevens or someone moving/bulking up for the weight class. I'd even consider Canelo a small middleweight despite his fight night weight.

    1. Cotto holds the WBC middleweight title. It doesn't matter if he was previously a welterweight, a lightweight or a flyweight, if he holds a title at middleweight, he needs to defend it against the best fighters at middleweight.

    2. Golovkin also holds WBC interim belt, which means that Cotto is obligated to fight Golovkin after his next fight.

    3. Mayweather holds no middleweight title, therefore he doesn't have anything to do with this, much less to fight Golovkin. You could maybe make a case if Golovkin moved down to 154, where Floyd currently holds a title.

    4. Pacquiao doesn't have anything to do with this. Nobody is mentioning that he should fight GGG anyway.

    5. Golovkin's fight night weight is about 170.

    6. Golovkin doesn't hold any title at SMW, therefore he is not obligated to fight anyone in that division.

    :good

you do know Stevens used to be a super middleweight right and has even fought at light heavyweight ? his not the tallest but his bulky and would have no chance of getting below 160

GGG dimensions and bulk are almost identical to Alvarez if you look at it, except canelo can't make 154 anymore even with draining and GGG makes 160 with ease
