Alotta recent threads suggesting PBF fights Martinez, but I just don't think martinez is a big enough draw to entice PBF. The casual fan doesn't even know this guy. If you have seen 1 PBF interview, it's pretty clear PBF fights for $ only. His recent fights produced huge paydays due to big draw opponents: DLH, Hatton, Marquez, & SSM. All these guys are know by the casual fan, unlike martinez. True beating martinez would be termendous for his legacy, but I'm pretty sure he would prefer a bigger draw in KP. What if KP wins the rematch? I think PBF would box circles around KP, however if KP was to land one big shot, he could def KO PBF. I know this fight is far-fetched, I'm bored of reading PBF vs. Martinez threads. KP has a huge american fan base, & would be a higher reward lower risk then Martinez. It would be crazy just to see these cats in the ring together. A tall, skinny, pale, slow white dude against a small, muscular, quick, black guy.
Mayweather vs. anything other than top welterweights doesn't interest me at all. He has nothing to prove at 154 or higher (just like Pacquiao really didn't need to climb all the way up to welterweight to prove anything, and I kind of wish he hadn't).
I so wanted Pac/Bradley. Now, I'd like Pac/Bradley or Alexander. We wouldn't have gone through all these Pacweather threads.
Mayweather would not have the success Martinez did, Martinez is bigger then floyd with better power and one of his most effective weapons in that fight was his southpaw jab right over kellys own, which set up things beautifully and actually did its own fair shair of busting kelly up. People will just assume Mayweather will win as easily or more because hes supposedly > then martinez, however it doesnt work like that IMO, but i would favor Mayweather to be honest, as hard as that is for me to believe, Pavlik just has no answeres when presented with a dynamic fighter it seems. I could see mayweather using angles, footwork and ring generalship to put on a boxing clinic, with pavlik chasing air all night. I dont think it will be as impressive as martinez though... i see it more like the Taylor vs Spinks fight but with Mayweather doing enough to get the decision. However, it would not suprise me eather if Pavlik was able to do what is needed to beat this much smaller fighter. The size difference would be massive. And yes... although its nice to believed it doesnt matter, it does... and even though Pavlik is bigger then Martinez and martinez won, Mayweather is smaller then Martinez and it would show in the ring. But again, i almost have to favor mayweathers skills to be the deciding factor, not pavliks size.... i never thought id say this but yes i could def see Mayweather beating Pavlik, ala Taylor vs Spinks (yes im aware taylor won the fight, but it was very close, i expect mayweather to be able to do the things spinks lacked to make it a victory) Close fight IMO.
Same here I.B... I dont get this 'lets see how big of an opponent he can fight before he loses' Im not saying this was the point of this thread, i suppose its a legit question asking if mayweather could become an effective middleweight, but all i care about is mayweather vs the best around him. I dont want to see him fight bigger guys... i just want to see the best at 140 and 147 fight eachother, Mayweather vs Pac.... thats all i want (and afterwards id like pac to return to 140), then Mayweather can retire. I have no desire to really see him fight until he loses due to age or someone having overwelming size advantage or him not carrying weight well or whatever.
I totally agree. Just w/ all the PBF vs. Martinez chatter I thought I'd throw a srewball in there. I mean it's possible KP will win the rematch.
Doesn't really matter to me, as long as Floyd fights any of the following: Pac Williams Sergio Pavlik Bradley Alexander I like Floyd's chances against Williams and Pavlik since it would be a challenge for them to make weight AND go through with OSDT. Bradley or Alexander will be tough but they lack the experience Floyd has. And we can pretty much rule out a fight with Pac unless something miraculous occurs. Sergio is really the best challenge for Floyd but as mentioned he is not a huge PPV draw. Maybe Floyd has to bend a little for the Pac fight to happen because that fight could give him the kind of money and legacy he wants, not to mention if he wins it would silence the critics (hopefully). Then again Floyd says he can make $20 mil fighting any fighter not named Pac, so if that's the case I guess Sergio is the chosen one. Agh. I dunno...just draw a name from a hat, dammit.
the fight is very winnable for Floyd, if he came out as the winner talks of top 10 ATG would follow afterwards
