How can you bet against Calzaghe now?

Congratulations on knowing nothing about boxing. Pavlik does not fight anything like Bernard does, he is smaller, less wiley and hasn't got as good a defense. Sure he can punch, but it wasn't Nards punching power that had Joe in trouble in the first it was the crispness of the counterpunch by an ATG counterpuncher. Pavlik cannot do that.

What round did you have the huge punching Lacy beating Joe in?

Calzaghe mid rounds TKO, Pavlik is nothing more than a target with a shaky chin and his style plays into Calzaghe's combination punching. This will look like Mitchell-Calzaghe without a KD.

Pavlik as can be predicted after every big fight, is now being underrated against the most recently accomplished Calzaghe.

Let the craze subside for a little bit before jumping to irrational conclusions.

I think he'd get stopped on accumulation, not straight up KO'd. Calzaghe eats up pressure fighters.

It's possible. I mean anyone can be knocked out and Pavlik has been dropped before. But Taylor landed a lot of sharp solid punches on Pavlik and only dropped him momentarily.

Calzaghe is not one I'd pick to win by KO over Pavlik. He slaps with his punches and he spends an awful lot of time lately smothering his own work while trying to spoil the other guy's plans (see Kessler fight).

Conversely, Calzaghe has been decked by right hands. And Pavlik has a beautiful one. He's also a very good finisher when he has his opponent hurt.

Calzaghe's punch and grab will give Pavlik more trouble than the slap flurries. If anyone is in trouble during those exchanges it's Calzaghe. He doesn't have that kind of power to swarm a big puncher like Pavlik without risking getting KTFO himself.

This is a bit asinine don't you think? What has Byron Mitchell done to even suggest he is in Pavlik's class?

Well, decking Calzaghe puts him in a pretty elite club.

If that fight tells you anything it should tell you that Calzaghe gets careless and caught by right hands. He walks right in at times and eats them for no good reason. Up to this point he's gotten away with it but if that had been Pavlik's right hand in the first round I'd venture to say it would have ended in a first round knockout.

    Yup.

It is the equivalent of around 10 wins against top 10 opposition.

You have to be something special to hit calzaghe like that.
