I know a lot of posters are saying that the interest in 2moro's fight is all to do with the massive Valuev, and that after the fight the hype will all die down again. BUT, if Haye wins by T/TKO will he be able to generate a cult following of all the footie fan hanger-on watchers who see him fell Goliath? Some people see this as a one shot deal, but if Haye T/KO's Valuev will the casual boxers come back to watch him again, just based on the fact that they saw him defeat a huge weighty bugger? Could this be the beginning of something special?
Make take is that Haye is a HW, is good looking, reasonably exciting to watch and is personable which are all good things. The downside is that he doesn't have a decent fanbase, is more than a little fragile and is in a division where the only 2 interesting fights are to fighters who would most likely beat him. On the balance of things I think he if he beats Valuev they'll be a fair bit of media/ fan interest in him making defences against the likes of Chambers, Povetkin etc but he won't get to real crossover status until he beats (at least) one of the Klits...... Bit of a kop out answer I know......
of course. the amount of press and various media exposure in the uk has been extraordinary. its been one of the best promoted fights in a lot of years imo whilst the physical aspects of the fighters sells itself the coverage has been incredible if haye wins he is in the $$$ big time. he should milk his title while the klits get their mands outa the way and defend it in the 02 couple times. he appeals to the US market big time and a unification would almost certainly be a HBO PPV and with it being a heavy weight fight then the money/fame/exposure is insane. also if he beats valuev and then defends it in safe enough fights it will enter the consciousness of the uk that haye is the greatest heavy ever. lol, i can see the 20 page arguments already
