:rofl:roflatschatsch So you basically admit right here you've never seen Curry fight before? Curry even at Canelo's current age of 21-22 was a top P4P fighter, and Canelo will NEVER be as good as Curry was in the mid 80's. He isn't in the same talent Universe as Curry. Alvarez literally had ZERO advantages over Curry. Not even power.
jesus christ i sometimes wonder why people never take an interest in past fighters when there are so many great fights to watch.
Don beats EVERYONE between 147 and 154 today. I am a bit biased , Curry just happends to be one of my favourite fighters of all time . Canelo being mentioned in the same sentence is just a plain insult.
Yeah I haven't and..... I was born late 80's so I doubt I was watching anyone at that time, and I ain't wasting my time searching on youtube to find this guy's brief peak...to someone I give a flying **** about, But **** it ya'll say he would win then **** it.. I'm not tripping. I'm happy that Canelo is not in that era then I wouldn't have no one to root for at 154...
Check this guy's thread statistics in his user profile, ****ing posts like one poll every day against random people... last time I checked dude had like 37 pages of threads... this dude is dedicated in making fantasy matchups.
Not a real boxing fan... okay Mr. Almighty Yeah I haven't wasted my time sifting trough the past about guys like that, only the main elite guys to be honest I only started watching in morales barrera times with my parents... so I don't really know about fighters like that... only the new stuff in this era, if you wanna hang me for that whatever...
you asked why is he even being mentioned alongside canelo correct? Because OP is the master in Fantasy match ups...
You fit right in with the majority of posters here. You only know about the current era (which blows) and assume to pick them over the 70's-90's guys, which on average were far more talented than the current crop. Canelo Alvarez would be a journeyman in the 80's. That's not an exaggeration either. He would be a non-factor in any division.
Why the **** do you think I'm in General ****ing Boxing forum(Boxing Discussion on recent fights & upcoming match-ups)? and not in the classic forum. :nut you probably are aged where you witnessed that era live, so Think about it... it's not like youtube'd that era or something... you lived in it.. maybe one day I'll be schooling noobs about this era in the future era
If there's any fighter from the 80s who deserves more appreciation, it's Curry. He is often overlooked now due to the disaster of the Honeyghan fight and his rapid decline following the McCallum loss. At his best though, he was an exceptional fighter who is a tough fantasy match-up for any welter. While his prime was brief, he still beat some excellent fighters, and there are far lesser fighters in the Hall of Fame. Canelo hasn't shown anything in his career to date to suggest he belongs in the same ring as Curry. He still has time to develop, but nothing about his fights screams out that we're watching a future great.
what what his best fight where he entered into a competitive fight and showed his great skills, guys like this you never hear about let me see what the 80's had...
147 and down are fine and 168 is as good as ever. hw's suck. its just 154-160 that blows. 5'6" bundrage, 5'6" cotto and 5'7" canelo...horrible. macklin, barker, dzin and zbik? they gotta go overseas now to find somebody with some inflated record to try and sell a fight here.
