The reason why i have highlighted James "Lights Out" Toney is because in recent years, 2 of the godly three has risen.... again from the ashes.

What is left in James Toneys career, are their any big fights out there for him..

James Toney is not Godly.
James Toney wasted his natural talent by not training hard. (He's also a roiding cheater, but we'll ignore that for now)

I don't think Toney has much left, he still has his knowledge, but he can't get his body to perform on a high enough level to excel, even with his great skill. The best he can do is "hang in there", but he can't really win against anyone elite.

 

James "Lights out" Toney is Godly...

How the hell has he wasted his talent, he is one of the greatest pound for pound fighters of this era. Yes he has came in out of shape and condition and showed some lack of work ethic, but the man is Old School. When you are "OLD SCHOOL" you can do that................

 

Old Skool bull****.... the guy is fat f**k, who has got great boxing skills and admirable defence.... but he didn't dedicate himself to train hard and keep in shape....and hence he FAILED to meet his potential.... He could've been the greatest of this era.....instead he stuck to mediocrity in the heavyweight division.... He could've dominated the middleweights upto the light heavyweight divsion.... but he lacked the dedication to train hard like Hopkins and Calzaghe to stay in shape and fight like a legend and show his skills to the best of his ability..... Than in my book, goes against him when compared to the others.

He has a very good resume.... and would be the guy least likely to avoid fights.... but his inability to stay in shape and dominate goes against him.... he chose to hang in their with a pathetic HW division because he lacked fitness.... One thing that has always been in his favour is his brilliant defence and granite chin. He's not special at HW, just above average in a poor division. And Supper Middleweight and LHW he could've been a king, an unstoppable legend... instead he chose not to dedicate himself....so he will never reach RJJ and Hopkins

 

Toneys career in my opinion is drastically overrated. A few good wins along with a lot of nobodies and too many embarassing close calls. Not too mention he has turned into a fatass in the last 5 years.

Hopkins has had the best career of the 3, then Roy, Toney a distant 3rd..

James "Lights out" Toney is a old school technical fighter...when you have Old School technical skills it counter-acts conditioning. You can be outshape, but your skills will still be a major factor. And you can be in immense shape..... And still be out boxed and beaten up, no matter how phsyically fit you are.
