The Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya. Is he over-rated, under-rated or given his dues? I'd say a bit under-rated. There will be a time when we look back at the 90's-00's, and ODLH will stand out, in any case more than PBF does. He's been in there with the best, he's pulled off some sweet victories, he backs it all up with a gold medal and some of the losing decisions were really close.
When it's all said and done DLH will be considered an ATG(regardless of his numerical standing) and that is a proper rating!
Depends who you ask. Those who say he's a top 20-30 ATG are overrating him. Those who say he doesn't make the top 100 are underrating him. And those who say he's anywhere from 50-100 are rating him well. People tend to rank him lower because of his losses, but all of his losses took place against future hall of famers, so I can't drop him too low, especially when 2 of those 5 losses were highly controversial. But be as it may, it does drop him. People should take the time to assess his resume. It's fantastic and certainly worthy of ATG status. Compare it to that of Trinidad or Mosley for example. De La Hoya's easily surpasses their's.
i say underrated by most hardcore fans. especially new comers. they just see the losses to major competition, without knowing how the fights went down or that he got robbed more than once. the big one to disregard is the nard fight. hoya was fighting WAY over his natural weight for the time, i thought the whole thing was just a stunt. at the very least, talent wise, i definitely think top 50 atg.
