Dating back a whole decade, when Fury visited the Finchley ABC gym to spar with a young AJ, then raved to him on Steve Bunce's radio show:

    ...and continuing until last night:

(Joshua went on the record as rooting for Fury in the Wilder rematch, as well)

There has also been some chirping back & forth, but all good-natured stuff, nothing below the belt, and usually said with a grin. There has always been obvious mutual respect between them.

It'll be strictly business when they all-but-inevitably clash in an epic & historic unification match for all four major alphabet titles as well as the Ring Magazine/lineal/TBRB championship recognition. :ggg The only spanner in the works would be Pulev (IBF) or Usyk (WBO) getting mandatory shots at and dethroning Joshua - or Fury surrendering the WBC/Ring/TBRB back to Wilder should he lose a mooted summer trilogy fight.

Nice juxtaposition of styles, too - imagine they hit the pause button on friendship and went all out, with Joshua fighting the way he fought Klitschko, and Fury the way he fought the Wilder rematch? :scared1 That could be the GOAT heavyweight fight of the modern heavyweight era.

If they were to go in with a handshake deal to not hurt each other, however - or if Joshua employs more of a Ruiz II strategy & style, while Fury boxes the way he did, say, Wallin - this could be a horrifically unworthy undisputed HW title match.

Joshua has basically been a snooze button since the Klitschko fight.

Well that's an unfair standard to hold anyone up to.

    Takam fight wasn't boring. :nono:

I personally enjoyed the Parker match, but it was definitely "one for the purists".

    Povetkin wasn't bad.

Early on Ruiz I had a ROTY candidate, IIRC? But then again, that led to him losing, and of course the rematch was considerably less fun, by design. :sisi1

Ruiz fight was awesome. I had Joshua planted on his ass as my avatar for months. Takam was not bad. The Parker fight drained the life out of my brain.

He's consistently inconsistent, let's say that.

And of course we know Fury is notorious for always fighting to his competition's level and matching their energy. Which could be great news in a Joshua match...unless Josha elects to box monotonously, or they mutually assent to go easy on each other.

Slick Fury shuts AJ out 12-0 or stops him late, front foot heavy aggressive Fury, stops AJ in 4. I've never viewed this match as being remotely competitive, after last night, even less so. An yeah I know, AJ has a better skillset than Wilder, but it doesn't matter.

Even if Joshua lands that uppercut that prompted Fury to say if he were Price he would've been "out cold for month"?

Good match up and I can tell you right now Fury would NOT be fighting the way he did last night.

I agree. He would ironically have more respect for Joshua than boogeyman Wilder, because, while the Wilder right may be >> the Joshua left, Joshua unlike Wilder has more than just power.

    Fury beats AJ I think.

One question I want answered is if Fury gets countered by a few of AJs left hooks say, will he get buzzed and back off?

Furys performance was brilliant last night, as a spectator it was obvious he was just in that zone. Nobody was beating him, he'd of probably beat two, three vs one the mad angry ******* lol

It will definitely be the fight to decide an undisputed best of the era HW.

Wilder is a dangerous fighter, a 50-50 against pretty much anyone, good-great chin, athleticism and focus. It is Fury's best win IMO, certainly up there with his points victory over Wlad.

I think that every real boxing fan knows that anybody's claim to #1 is thin at best if they do not have decisive victories over 2 of Wilder, Fury and Joshua. Also given the nature of the fighters, I would think that victories over Whyte and Parker would be needed to erase any doubt.
I say this because they both have proven to be around the level of the big 3 and have very good chins, which Fury and Joshua do not imo.

I believe that the Fury of the Wlad fight is favourite against Whyte, Parker and Joshua but there is 0 chance of Fury man-handling AJ or Whyte as he did Wilder. Both Whyte and Joshua would be different beasts on the inside should Fury spend any time exchanging in the pocket.

Kudos to Fury, I see no need for a rematch and would much, MUCH rather see him and Wilder join the rest of the division and take on any of Parker, Whyte, Joshua, Usyk or the up and comers like Hrgovic and Dubois.

Great stuff from both Fury and Wilder, let's see other equally worthy fighters get their shot and treat the fans to another genuine golden era of HW competition.
