So, how much is the God Amongst Men making for this fight, and how long will it take this bozo to smoke through it all? Just curious
He will catch Anderson a few times, but Martin will be destroyed completely, it won't go past 4 rounds
I'm not fully sold on Anderson, he's literally fought nobody and so this is quite an intriguing step up, at least Martin is a proven quantity even though he's obviously far from great. If Anderson is a serious contender he needs to blast Martin out early like Joshua did. If he gets taken the distance or is stretched in any way then questions will be asked. If it's actually competitive then that suggests Anderson is just another in a long line of disappointing US heavyweights.
Anderson will easily overcome Martin, who will not present any threat to him, if old Ortiz managed to stop Martin, then Anderson will stop him even more easily...
Charles Martin was never very good to begin with, was gifted a belt due to another fighter getting injured. Then turned up against AJ in a nappy and did not even put up a fight. His motivations to continue at this point must be only to get easy pay days like this for padding prospects records. Anderson gets the stoppage here in under 6 rounds.
I think Anderson may struggle and even hurt early due to nerves, but he'll recover quickly and get a KO somewhere in the 4th to 6th round.
He is - Martin has one of the worst chins in the division. His super-fragile mandible will be shattered into a million pieces. If Martin lasts more than a round or two, I will be surprised.
You are right but in fairness he was doing okay up until he got finished with old man Ortiz, if he continued to close right he would have won that one though that can be said about many fights.
Jared Anderson is on the fast track. He's an exciting fighter. He's a great puncher. He's "young." His upside is huge. His promoter Bob Arum is old. So we're likely to see him fight for a title sooner rather than later. On paper, Charles Martin is the perfect opponent. He's a former belt holder. He's been through the ringer (including being a gunshot victim). He's been stopped a couple times. I think Martin was chosen as a late sub because of the likelihood Anderson could score an impressive, highlight reel KO. But Charles Martin has legitimate power. And history is filled with matchups like this where the rising guy comes in hot and gets knocked off. When I see prefight profiles of Jared Anderson riding horses with Roy Jones, I can't help but be reminded of guys like Andrew Maynard who came out of the gate fast, had Sugar Ray Leonard (his Roy Jones) mentoring him, and watching Maynard get taken apart by Bobby Czyz, who was supposed to be a walkover "name" opponent. So it'll be interesting to see how it plays out Saturday. That's why the heavyweights are always fun. I doubt it'll be a boring decision win.
Anyone confident of a Martin win should plunk down some cash. I see he’s paying out at +700 at the moment.
One problem with this scenario. Charles Martin is a level, or two, below Bobby Czyz - in both boxing ability and punch resistance. He's going to be destroyed, early.
