I suspect you are right. Martin is in decent shape despite being brought in on short notice and he is bigger and a southpaw and Anderson relies a lot on his jab, so may find Martin tricky until he lands a big shot and takes Martin's heart. So while I give Martin no chance of upsetting Anderson, I think he might take him into the 2nd half of the fight, before he folds.
i liked the original opponent and like this choice as well as long as Martin is in decent form and not there to lay down, which he hasnt done since Joshua I think Anderson is being navigated at the right pace
It will be interesting to see what people have to say after Anderson annihilates Martin Charles Martin is a mediocre HW with a very fragile glass chin. He is no more a test for Anderson than the rest of the stiffs he's faced.
I think mediocre might even be a big generous to Martin. Question is how good is Anderson? He's no doubt better than Martin but how much better? He's fast and has good power, but his low hands style is very dangerous at heavyweight, especially for an average sized one like Anderson. He's going to need a very good chin with his style because I can see a good counter puncher finding that chin and testing it regularly.
That's a good point. If Anderson's chin is more glassy than Martin's, his whiskers could get exposed in this fight. I doubt it though.
I can't resist, I have to repeat that Anderson will beat the crap out of Martin very early in the fight, Martin is a solid fight and an opportunity for Anderson to open the door to bigger things...
Seriously. Losing to a washed up Grandpa Ortiz tells you all you need to know about Martin. Anderson is going to crush him like the can he is, and always has been.
If Charles Martin had never picked up a belt in the win over Glazkov, he'd probably be more respected than he is now. Compared to other heavyweight champs, he's not good at all. At all. But, as a top 20 heavyweight, he's more than respectable. Take away the title belt from the Czar bout, which never should've been a title fight to begin with, he's just a tough heavyweight who has won nearly all his fights and was a tough out in three of his four career losses (Anderson, Ortiz and Kownacki). The only fight he's appeared to have phoned in was the Joshua fight. And many top 20 heavyweights have a couple of those type performances. I'd also like to see Martin against Jalolov and Torrez, for comparison sake. I'm not sold on Torrez.
