Thanks to Oscar's and Loeffler's code of silence and thanks to the WBC's botched HW title fight with Potvetkin and Wilder, the entire forum seems littered with reposts about Meldonium nanograms, step-aside fees and interim fights.

What about the GREAT FIGHTERS who are actually gonna lace em up on the same card, in which we may have the cream of the crop at 154 rise to the top.

Al Haymon has put together a great complete card of boxing when several of his best fighters clash in exciting title fights for LMW supremacy.

Headling the card is a great fight of activity and relentlessness vs defense, footwork and counterpunching. Lara v Martirosyan.

Lara gets a lot of love and hate in boxing circles for his style, some overrating, some underrating him, but whichever side you stand on, the fact is, he's usually in close fights, and this one will likely be no different.
Martirosyan has been on the wrong end of a few bad decisions, but has maintained his standing by consistently fighting the top level fighters in his class. He's highly underrated as a fighter because he's not usually the clear winner of his big fights.

The Charlo brothers also seem to get similar love/hate, but again, they're quality operators, who are both fighting high level contenders this weekend.
Jermell will look to make boxing history should he beat hard hitting John Jackson, becoming the first twin in boxing history to hold a title simultaneously as his brother in the same division.

Jermall however, has to do his part as well, having former titlist Austin Trout looking to get himself back to the top of the division.

Each of these big fights could go either way, as the 3 favorites, Lara, Jermall, and Jermell, all have tough outs in front of them.

Props to Al Haymon for making this happen, and thumps up to Showtime for bringing us a card stacked with GREAT TALENT who will all likely factor big in the future of the 154-160lb weight classes. :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup

al puts on many good cards....even many of his perceived "mismatches" have turned into wildly entertaining fights

im gonna have to rewatch lara/vanes before Saturday night....because my memory is very foggy on that one....I was probably hammered

but vanes is a tough kid...as tough as they come....hell fight anyone....and he was able to give Andrade some troubles....who is somewhat similar to lara.....one could argue that lara is an unbeaten fighter as well

lookin forward to this card of course

Yes, Lara could well be undefeated since his of 2 Ls, Canelo fight very well COULD have been ANOTHER DRAW, and most fans/pundits and even fighters agree that the Williams fight was an absolute robbery having Lara winning as wide as 9-3.

And yeah, Vanes Lara is a GREAT FIGHT:good

I agree. But I'm so dissapointed the HW fight didn't happen, because that would have answered so many questions but instead we just got a couple more.

I like boxing though and there are a couple of very good fights left, like you mentioned chittown :good

How did the WBC botch a title fight?

Povetkin was found positive of an illegal substance. Fight off. That's how it works.

All 3 good competitive fights, on paper and via the eye test. Biggest chance for the upset is vanes, he can beat lara. Next is williams but that's a bigger upset, not sure vanes winning is sn upset at all

Good post, I alluded to this in a post yesterday being frustrated with how much noise Haye and Briggs are getting for their nothing fights when there is quite a lot ofrom quality on this weekend. I also have no easy way of watching most of the others:(

Parker Takam IS an interim fight but it will probably be better than some of the recent heavyweight title fights- I'm much more interested in watching great competitive fights between dangerous guys than cherry picked defenses or hug and jab fests

    Agreed, Lith.

Parker - Takam could easily be the fight of the weekend.

I know it is being broadcast in UK. Not sure about USA.

It's a good card. Not likely to be great action fights but plenty of skills on show in not as predictable as usual match ups.

Only interested in Takam-Parker this month, the others are meh.
I will never watch a Lara fight again.
