Who was the biggest hype star of all time?
For me it was Mike Tyson. Who did this guy beat that makes him so great?
He was knocking out B level fighters. When he stepped up against Lewis and Holyfield he lost

I tell you what, if it wasn't for Tyson, I wouldn't even be a fan of boxing and I am sure there are many others like me.

I agree. America sold Tyson VERY well. I was quite young at the time and was taken in by the hype. But who the hell did he beat that makes him so great??

Sometimes it is not who you beat, but how you do it. Tyson was that spectacular, he deserved all the hype. Sport is about entertainment ultimately and it isn't like Tyson was feasting on total bums Wilder style.

Personally I think the fight with Spinks was Tyson's best and is a very relevant fight. If you look back on it, it was a huge fight where Spinks was not only undefeated, he (Spinks) had beaten many other great, but not elite, fighters. You could say that Tyson beat him so bad he was afraid to return to the ring.
