Cain Velasquez was the only champ who'd taken more than a year off, and that was due to injury. GSP defended his title in December last year, then fought again in April, he was scheduled to fight again in October but pulled out due to injury. All the other champs fought at least twice in 2011. Jon Jones fought 4 times, including 3 title fights.
