Two of the best wins of this century for two of the best fighters.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER v DIEGO CORRALES, 2001

    and

JOE CALZAGHE v MIKKEL KESSLER, 2007

But which do you think was the better win of the two?

I would say both are pretty even.... Both PBF and Calzaghe took on prime undefeated fighters, who were fighting in their respective weight classes. Both Corrales and Kessler at the time they fought these champions were highly regarded but for the most part unproven... I think that I guess I would give an edge to PBF because he knocked Corrales out and put on a bigger beat down.... Calzaghe was not in complete control until the last half of the fight ( which he took total control ).

So final verdict ---- PBF's victory over Corrales by a very slight margin.

if my memory proves me right wasn't Chico actually favored to beat Floyd back then? both were getting alot of praise from boxing circles back then. i remember watching this in a hotel room with a honey:D and Floyd just beat him in every department. i dont think kessler is as highly touted as Chico was.

I think the fact that calzaghe was quite old when he beat kessler comes into play, i also think that corrales was taylor made for floyd

You think they really are the best fighters of this decade and the best victories of the decade?

If so, they are pretty even though I would lean toward Calzaghe. There was more at satke in this fight. It was for Super Middleweight supremecy and both fighters were undefeated and the top two fighters in the division.

More at stake? Both Chico and PBF were undefeated champs as well .... both were considered at the top of the Super feather weight division ( a much more deep and competitive division )

Corrales was an undefeated P4P fighter in a much more deep and competitive division.

I know, but there was also only one belt at stake. It was not a unification fight. I think you can make a solid case for both. Also, Joe was 35 and Kessler was a young fighter who was expected to tear through Calzaghe.
