Both Charles-Burley fights are special considering Charles was virtually a novice going up against one of the best fighters ever.

Duran-Leonard, as Leonard in his prime is as good as any fighter on film and Duran moved up in weight to best him. I also consider the Barkley win an amazing achievement, even if Barkley is far from great. Same goes for Hearns-Hill.

    Others that haven't been mentioned:

    Fitzsimmons-Corbett.
    Leonard-Hagler.
    Basilio-Robinson.
    Foreman-Moorer, Hopkins-Pascal/Tarver, Moore-Durelle.

Armstrong v Ross for sure. Definitely. Armstrong is #2 on my P4P ATG list while Ross sits comfortably at #12.

And LaMotta v Robinson is a great shout out as well, but Robinson did avenge that loss five times, one of them with a very brutal finish.

Where do armstrong and ross sit on your atg welterweight list?

I think it's either this or charles over moore.

Ali over Foreman, Duran over Leonard, LaMotta over Robinson, Leonard over Hearns are my picks.

Ali was a bit too faded and rusty for me to rank FOTC in that tier, but I do think it's the next tier down, without question.

Good idea! This would be my Top 5 then (taking into account p4p ranking and circumstances of the fight):

    Henry Armstrong (1) - Barney Ross (12)
Roberto Duran (8) - Sugar Ray Leonard (15)
    Sam Langford (5) - Joe Gans (11)
    Ezzard Charles (6) - Archie Moore (9)
    Harry Greb (3) - Mickey Walker (7)

Benny Leonard over Lew Tendler Newspaper W 12 and UD 15.
Tendler a southpaw which were even more rare than than they are today in boxing gave Leonard all he could handle on their first bout. In the second bout Leonard was the clear winner.
Tendler is probbly the best of Leonard's chalangers, and would likely have been a champion in any other era.

Fitz v Dempsey has to be right up there.

Greb V Tunney (and vice versa were both excellent results)

Leonard v Hagler was top notch.

I am thinking that Greb v Tunney probably featured the two highest and best pound for pound fighters, closest to their primes, with great performances from each. Charles v Moore might be close, but i dont think it gets to the same levels.

If you mean high-ranking ATGs, then Duran over Leonard.

That one pretty much takes it for me anyway, as maybe the best fight I've ever watched.

    FOTC a close also-ran.

    Excellent choices!

I'm not sure how "prime" moore is considered in the charles fights but there aren't many occasions when two consensus divisional greats take each other on. I have these 1 and 2 at lhw and 8 and 18 p4p I think.

Divisionally speaking it'd be like louis fighting ali, robinson fighting leonard or greb fighting monzon

    Watch Canzoneri-Chocolate I then, that´s even better. Duran-Leonard I is my number 3, Frazier-Ali I my number 2.

    Thanks.

For the best fight i've ever seen, I choose something very modern - cotto v margo.
