^^Actually it does matter, and it matters greatly. You can't be considered an ATG if you only have 13 fights under your resume.

Let him prove himself the next couple years, at least have 30 professional fights before we gauge how great he actually is. One of the greatest amateur fighters of all time, no doubt about it, but professionally? He has a lot of work to do. And him being 33 years old leaves a relatively small window of opportunity for him to climb up the ratings.

But he has an extensive ams background (there is no difference between pros and ams), does great pad work and is learning things at Wildcard Gym. you guys just dont get it . . . record means nothing since rigo has a style that can neutralize anyone.

I rated Rigo top 3 p4p before the Donaire win H2H. I thought Donaire fought the wrong fight, given his height, size advantage, athleticism and power he should have fought more dynamic from the outside. For some reason, Garcia thought it would be a good idea to fight him like a Margarito. I envisioned a Hearns-SRL style of match for Donaire, use his reach to box a great shorter boxer.

Rigo needs to fight more often though, he beat the guy who is clearly ahead of everyone so he should just clean out. From 122-126 it kinda goes like this:

Rigo
Donaire
.
.
.
Everyone else.

 

Rigo is one hell of a fighter and dominated a great fighter in Donaire. Although I feel if Donaire had fought a different fight, he would have faired better and the fight might not had been so one sided. Once Rigo figured out that all Donaire was looking for was the one big punch, it was the beginning of the end for Nonito. That being said, calling Rigo the best of all time is too much of a stretch. He must fight better opposition and more of them. Dude has less than 15 pro fights! Do you know the level of competition he would need to face and beat in grand form to be considered one of the best let alone the best ever with that few of fights. Quiet literally he would have to beat, Salvador Sanchez, Alexis Arguello, all three Sugars, Hearns , Duran. Pepp, Marquez, Morales, Barrera Arron Pryor and Mayweather all while in their prime.

 

didnt you read this threadatsch. According to Greenlad, who knows everything about boxing, that there is no difference between ams and the pros; also, he has does great pad-work; and is learning a lot of things at the wildcard Gym.

I may not agree with everything you say but at least you talk boxing this site was good at one time .

 

Honestly that's a bit ridiculous with all those "ATG" statuses. Many people seem to consider that like a something of importance and not an imaginary subjective thing. As for Rigo, he doesn't need that at all, people who follow him will always know and understand how good is he, regardless of him being considered a virtual "ATG" by some people or not.

As for the guys you mentioned, Imo Rigondeaux is more skilled and a better boxer than all of them. I remember that many people were saying that the skills he displayed in the amateurs won't work in the pros and that Donaire would handle him (probably because they didn't even watch him in back in the ams or just couldn't realize how good was he). Well, they were wrong.
