I usually try not to infect the Classics with mah poison . But this thread is really not fair in that some people bash Heavyweights and say that p4p = best of all time. I mean Lennox Lewis never had the chance to win multiple titles and be a division hopper because God gave Lennox such a big powerful strong and handsome body. If Lewis was born littlier and shortierier say 5'10, he can be the 140 147 154 160 168 and 175 Champion. Easily. So saying p4p = greatest is wrong. Heavyweights are just as talented and deserve just as much credit as the lower p4p guys. To me the greatest boxer of all times, is Lennox Lewis. He avenged all his defeats. He is a great man and great champion. When nobody believed in him, he didn't give up. He never lost sight of his dreams and goals and he had the coolest hair.
All the ****s know is "Ali" "Ali", "Ali",...it's a lot easier than actually attempting to learn something about all the great fighters in the lower weight division that surpass Ali p4p. Like uninformed casual sports fans the world over..the most popular is always the best..
SSR Gans Greb Pep Louis Langford that's just a start, and dozens & dozens Moore, and yes Ali is among them, but he's certainly Not the best. Oh, and Hopkins ISN't.
As good as Duran was... & he was without doubt one of the best ever, absolutely no doubt at all, amazing fighter... he was not a better fighter than Ray Robinson :nono
It's his defense in addition to being arguably the greatest inside fighter of all-time that got him there. He's about as complete as it gets, Bill. From strictly an offensive arsenal p.o.v, I don't know I'd rate anyone higher than Ray, whom I actually like about as much as Duran.
Muhammed Alì Myke Tyson Rocky Marciano Ray Leonard these are the ones you ask around and evrybody knows..not only boxing fans had great impact on sport of boxing...so must be the greatest
maybe are not the best (maybe):think but had the greatest impact on sport than most boxers named on this topic..........that must mean something these are champs that make the sport great by capturing people imaginary and inspiring them..
