Conteh was incredible and fought in arguably the greatest light heavyweight era of all time.

    Pre-War; Ted Lewis
    Post-War; Lennox Lewis

    Buchanan > Conteh imo

This is fair, they're certainly our most skilled fighters. However, if Conteh had been given the decision he deserved against Parlov and Ahumada had been given the decision he deserved over Foster I think it'd be less arguable to most.

It's razor thin either way, I rank Buchanan as the greater fighter myself.

    Undisputed Super-middleweight champ.

    Undisputed Light-heavyweight champ.

    Undefeated.

Conteh is great to watch but I think Ken looks as good on film (if not slightly better) & had a better career

In terms of pure talent I think Conteh is the most gifted fighter we've ever had, he just had the misfortune to be around in such a tough era.

I don't give a monkeys toss about your facts, he was and is overrated, I don't care what history says I will go by what I see with my own eyes.

Nah, he would've owned the era had he not had horrific hand problems and been a pisshead/cokehead outside the ring. He was well past it against Saad and nearly pulled it out. More consistent than Galindez. Owned Yaqui Lopez with one hand. Went to Yugoslavia past his best and was arguably robbed against Parlov. All different styles, shapes and sizes. A few decent heavyweight scalps as well.

So between Foster and Mike Spinks I'd say Saad was clearly the greatest shortly followed by Conteh.

In a fantasy fight between Qawi & Conteh how do you think that would go?

You can't argue with the facts.

What you have seen with your own eyes depends on what your brain has accepted.

So because it's in the record books that he retired undefeated I have to accept he's one of the greatest British boxers of all time? I don't think so mate, what the record book says don't always tell the full story does it?

When was Calzaghe undisputed champion at 175?

The one win over a good opponent at the weight is disputable, never mind the fact that he was undisputed champ.

Jones was a journeyman by the time Joe got him, and still couldn't get him out of there.

    I would recommend these bouts:

Vs Schmidtke; a fully healthy Conteh wins European championship with a sublime display and shows how powerful he would've been with a working right hand throughout most of his career

Vs Yaqui Lopez; Conteh at his one handed best. Amazing left handed display.

Vs Hutchins; beautiful left hook to finish proceedings.

    For starters :good

    First off, what a fight!

It'd be more competitive than the Spinks fight but Conteh's cultured left hand would do the better work on Braxton just as Spinks did IMO. Anything less than the best Conteh then Qawi gets on his chest and does the job.

And if you go by lineage Jones, Tarver and Hopkins were never the 'real' champ' anyways ;) :deal

They're not 'facts' in fact if you go with fact then Calzaghe never won anything but a paper title at 175lbs.
