Yeah, good clip that. LaMotta gained immense pride from the fact he never legitimitely got put on the canvas. Very good fighter, immense heart.

Apart from LaMotta's incredible chin, i think it's also an extremely impressive showing from Robinson. The way he puts punches together in combinations even this late in the fight against a bigger, pressure fighter while being somewhat past his best himself is just awesome.

 

Lamotta is hard to beat in this area but a good chin is a good chin and there have been many

 

I think Ali, but honourable mention must go to James Toney. Never been stopped or seriously hurt in over 70 fights, including many at heavyweight when the guy was a middleweight. Superb.

 

Mickey Walker deserves to be on that list.

Hagler and La Motta re usually in the 1 and 2 spots. Ali probably oguhht more pucnhers than anyone

 

You have got a good list. I would not like to select any one name. I am not sure I can do justice if I were to do so.

How about Randall "Tex" Cobb on that list?

 

I voted for Chuvalo. He was never badly hurt and he was never really truly staggered on the verge of going down. But LaMotta is a close #2 for me.

LaMotta was knocked down by Danny Nardico and it was legitimate. There is a still picture of Jake on the canvas at boxrec under the open book beside the fight record. Film of this fight exists. Nardico backed LaMotta to the ropes and creamed him much as Marciano did Louis. LaMotta sprawled across the ropes much like Louis. He was saved by the bell but did not come out for the next round.

By the way, Kid Gavilan should be on this list.

george chuvalo,nobody took a shot like he did 97 fights never off his feet.hagler and le motta were good as well but they never had to take shots from george foreman,jerry quarry,joe frazier,mike dejohn,etc,etc

 

Whoever said LaPorte has it right, faced Gomez, Pedroza, Chavez, Nelson, Sanchez, Castillo and McGuigan and was never floored or as far as I can recall even hurt. His ability to take a punch is criminally underrated and he should be consistently mentioned on best chin lists.

 

He was up there and is a good choice.

By the way, what did you think of Bob Cleroux's chin. He is forgotten today but he was a rugged fighter also and, in fact, defeated Chuvalo two of three in fights for the Canadian championship.
