    Max Schmeling
    Jersey Joe Walcott
    Rocky Graziano
    Ezzard Charles
    Sugar Ray Robinson
    Archie Moore
    Kid Gavilan
    Harold Johnson
    Tommy Jackson
    Zora Folley
    Eddie Machen
    Luis Manuel Rodriguez
    Benny Paret
    Emile Griffith
    Muhammad Ali
    Jerry Quarry
    Ron Lyle
    Jimmy Young
    Trevor Berbick

They were all so different, I really can't say who was the best, although I don't think there were ever longer, more wicked exchanges than the ones that went on between Charles-Walcott and Griffith-Rodriguez.

I'd add Bob Fitzsimmons and Joe Louis to that list.

Yeah, Joe Louis and Juan Manual Marquez are my favourites to watch. Shanus, Floyd Mayweather was good.

I quite like the Machen mention.

Great list but James Toney and JMM need to be on there.

Charles should be above Walcott and Schmeling imo, and there's no doubt he should be over Graziano. Moore should be over all of them though.

Victor Galíndez was a splendid counter puncher.

I wasn't ranking them in order of counter-punching abilitiy, just by era, that's a tendency of mine. I normally wouldn't put Rocky with most of the others, I just found him a bit underrated.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think this list is in order.

I love watching Emilio, such a fan friendly style. The Kates fight is a classic (as are most Kates fights tbh).

Two of the first guys who came to mind. But what about the man who easily outcountered Marquez, Money Mayweather?

Freddie Norwood kind of outcountered Marquez too, now that I think about it.

Holyfield and Qawi aren't conventional counter-punchers, but they were damn good at it.

I don`t think Graziano was a great counter puncher and Berbick hardly countered any of Tyson`s punches.

His style was mainly based around baiting and countering.
