Does the greatest fight ever - Also encompass the enjoyment factor of the buildup of expectation and anticipation as the fight gets nearer ?

Many great fights are devoid of great a anticipation factor, I.E Holmes- Norton was a great fight with little pre-anticipation, Holmes -Cooney was not such a great fight, but had greater anticipation..

With Ali Vs Frazier 1st the pre anticipation was Global, even behind the iron -curtain, reaching fever pitch as March 8th drew nearer, Two Guys with such contrasting personalities and styles, with politics involved this went way beyond a mere sporting event, Plus you got a great great fight too

With Ali Foreman, most so called experts had Ali a big underdog and the run-up most feared the worst for Ali, the result might of been great, but not really a great fight in the traditional sense

Taking all the Factors into account pre, during and post, i have to go with Ali Frazier 1st as the greatest Fight / Event.

Leonard Duran and Leonard Hearns had great anticipation factors and great action too, and are worthy runners up.

Other Great Fights started and ended in the ring only.

Good point. I think FOTC, as well. Simply because it was the most hyped fight in the history of boxing and it lived up to it.
