Ive heard it said alot that Ali/Frazier in Manila was the greatest heavyweight championship fight ever. Its pretty hard to top considering the pace that Ali set and the brutal nature of the fight. The bad blood and neither man willing to give an inch.

With that said was Manila a greater fight than Marciano/Walcott? For some reason I dont think this bout gets talked about enough. People generally remember the finishing punch by Marciano or even the early KD by Walcott.

    The fight itself was phenomenal.

How does this compare to Ali/Frazier? Or is there another fight that gets overlooked when discussing the very best hw title fights?

I thought the first Frazier-Ali fight (Madison Square Garden, March 8, 1971) was easily the best of the series.

Marciano v Charles 1 was perhaps Marciano's greatest fight, even greater than the first Walcott fight, but I've only seen the film highlights.
With the Walcott fight I've seen a more complete version (missing one round only)

Honourable mention to Holmes-Norton, Bowe-Holyfield 1, and the absurdity of Dempsey-Firpo.

    It's hard to measure greatness.

    Some of my favorites are:

    Dempsey vs Willard
    Marciano vs Walcott I
    Marciano vs Charles I
    Johansson VS Patterson I
    Ali vs Foreman

A lot of good picks so far, some real good ones, but I think you're overlooking Boston Tom McMustache vs Chocolate Negro Soldier Kid.

Here, here. Some great forgotten gems. Good shout out on McMoustache, that was a back and forth war one punch at a time. Also interestingly the only time SNV was ever forced to go all or in a boxing ring. I was blind for three days after watching, and pissed orange fanta.

    Louis-Conn
    Marciano-Charles I
    Ali-Foreman
    Holyfield-Bowe I
and Tyson-Holyfield '91...what could have been.

Interesting to see a Top 10 list.

Holmes/Norton is a very good fight that doesnt get mentioned enough. It was pretty damn exciting, fought at a high level of skill. Changng momentum ofcourse the drama of that last round.

Gotta check out Charles/Marciano 1. The second bout gets referred to alot because of Rocky`s cut and Freddie Brown`s legendary performance in the corner.

What about Bowe/Holyfield 2? In some ways that was a better fight than the first one. In that first bout Riddick Bowe dominated. Holyfield made some rallies. In that second bout it was up in the air till the final round.
