You couldn't start this thread anywhere but ESB Classic Langford KO19 Wills is an obvious choice. One punch KO of a great HW by an ex-lightweight. Less so, perhaps, is McLarnin's one round stoppage of Young Corbett III. Corbett was never stopped twice in his first five fights, but then wasn't stopped for another 14 years when he faced Jimmy as the reigning WW champion. Corbett was never stopped at WW aside from on this occasion, and was only stopped once afterwards, by great MW Apostolini. I have film of Corbett thrashing Fields, and as well as being rugged and strong, he is awkward, skilled and a puncher. For McLarnin to stop him within a single round...pretty awesome stuff don't you think? These two are the KO's I would most like to have on film, I think. What about you guys? What's noteworthy?
I don't know if it's great because i haven't seen it, but Gunnar Bärlund's TKO win over Buddy Baer would be interesting to see. I don't know if there's even film of it.
Nelson knocking out Jimmy Britt. Dont get me wrong, the fight is on film. But the ko itself is not lol. Both walk off camera veiw, Nelson walks back in view, and the ref counted over a knockout Britt with the camera moving toward the down Britt. At least we got the ten count lol.
same feeling as ramon...but from what i have read...these are not the greatest, just ones that have made me think about them.. jack dempsey v gunboat smith....a young, and i imagine a savage dempsey, had him down 9 times in 2 rounds carpentier v young joesph - european welterweight title...carpentier won by 10th round ko...i'd like to see it just to get a good look at carpentier as a welter.. irishman mick leahy winning the british middleweight title against george aldridge in a first round ko....sugar ray robinson, muhammad ali and randy turpin all jumped into the ring to hug leahy. archie moore stopping oakland billy smith...in the 8th round moore dropped him for the 3rd time, and in the middle of the count smith slipped under the ropes and walked to the dressing room....would be interesting to see that happen and see how everyone reacted..
Milt Aron's comeback KO of Fritzie Zivic. Coming back from being knocked down three times in the second round to rally and stop one of the most durable fighters of all time. It's a great shame that the Louis vs Uzcudun films cuts off the moment Louis knocks down Uzcudun with what Louis himself described as perhaps the most powerful punch he ever threw.
the last round of zale graziano 1 sounds incredible jimmy mclarnin ktfo young corbett III dempsey ko levinski leonard ko rocky kansas greb ko1 gunboat smith
