Larry Holmes has said that Fury would have had a decent chance of beating Mike Tyson.
Got me pondering who s the greatest heavy Fury could have beaten back then?

I think he could pull off a hard fought win against Bowe...

I don't like Fury but I think it would be hard for Tyson to overcome the size difference especially with the clinching.

Post prison 90's Tyson would snap his arms in the clinch

    Golota is more Fury's level

Yes it would, Fury wouldn't make it easy at all for Tyson to get any kind of rhythm going.

Honestly you can’t really count him out against anyone. He has all the variables to give any ATG a terrible night; size, IQ, speed, awkwardness, a solid chin topped off by excellent recovery.
Ali, Louis, Holmes, Lewis, whoever it may be, will not be having an easy fight.

Harry Greb, who would take the fight in a minute but would probably lose. Although he might tire Fury out and win a decision.

He might have beaten quite a few to be honest. The Fury of the past 3 years hasn’t been the one who won the heavyweight title. The further back he goes the bigger the size advantage he’d have in most instances. He has a proven chin. Ability to go 12 and win on points. Decent ( but not great ) boxing ability. And moderate power.

That is such a cool idea for a match! But I think Bowe hit too hard. I see Fury doing good and staying evasive early, but Bowe's jab was too good and he just had too amazing a trainer. Bowe knew how to set up his nasty overhand and punishing hook.

By the sixth round Fury has already been dropped twice. He takes the Rodriguez right from Bowe and goes full night nights.

Iron Mike would have run all over Fury imo.

Fury couldn't have handled Lennox, Foreman, Holmes, Frazier, Liston. Norton would have Ali 1'ed him.

He could have beaten Weaver, Tate, Witherspoon, Smith, Thomas, Dokes, Coetzee, Page, Berbick, Tubbs, Tucker, Ellis, Terrell, Patterson.

I think a fight between Rocky Marciano and Fury would be a great matchup, just because the disparity in height wouldn't ultimately deter the former. Fury would be taking really heavy shots eventually.

Fury could possibly beat Charles, Schmeling, not sure at all on Dempsey.
