You happened to mention Pep, so I quoted you on him.

Despite it becoming the norm or the "in thing to do" to have Robinson below number 1, I have him there.

What the question should actually be, is who do we rate the second greatest P4P fighter in history. I'm going to go with Harry Greb.

The mob is a very powerful influence Nemesis, and certain threats can be made. The one persons wife (I forget who's) got shot and killed when the telephone rang and she answered it...all because her husband wouldn't take a dive. Duran quit in the ring, did he not? Liston took a dive, and quit. Ali wanted to quit in the first Liston fight, and Holmes had 2nd thoughts about going in the ring with Tyson when he realized he wasn't ready, does that mean they aren't allowd in the top spots? Pep went 63-0-0 before his first loss, and fought on over 100 times after he wasn't supposed to walk again, let alone fight.

Any list with Roy Jones Jnr in it should be burnt.

    Why?

Is it because he lost when he was old or didn't fight some so-called threat, who in reality would've got their arses kicked by him (Benn,Michalczewski,Eubank).

Even though he's done now (in fact I'm not even sure he'll beat Trinidad) he was an amazing fighter in his day. He's one of only a handful of fighters who's left me open mouthed at his ability and that's including a lot of the supposed all-time greats.

Ask yourself how many fighters were as dominant as Jones was for as long as he was and the answer is not many at all.

Fair enough if you don't think he belongs on an all-time list but such a vitriolic response to people who do is pretty narrow minded I think.

    It's because
1/ He had serious technical flaws - Demonstrated by the fact that once his natural gifts diminished with age, he was unable to maintain his consistency (unlike Bernard Hopkins who was adaptable due to his superb technique)
2/ The best opponent he faced at lightheavyweight was Antonio Tarver, of similar age, and in my books Tarver beat him 3 times.
3/ He defeated a green Bernard Hopkins in the most cowardly and passive way possible, even though he was the vastly more powerful "fighter". Then priced himself out of the rematch. His best win was against James Toney, which was impressive but not special.
4/ His reign at lightheavyweight is littered with unspectacular fighters.
5/ Anyone that thinks beating John Ruiz makes him "heavyweight champion" is exactly the sort of moron who would put Jones in their top10 list.

He is basically a limited fighter with a well-managed career whose blemishes have been conveniently overlooked by those who just can't see past the hype.

There is NO argument to put him in a top10 list ahead of the likes of Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, Ray Robinson, Henry Armstrong etc etc.

No respected historian or expert ranks him in the top10.

    End of.
