The Greatest Pound for Pound fighter of all time?

On the same level as Louis/Ali/Monzon/Saddler/Wilde/Fitzsimmons - they are all placed in the next few slots after #10.

Manassa. I think your too high on the old timers. No question they were busy, and depending on how far back you go, they fought a minimum of 15 rounds. Todays champions only go 12, and fight 3 times maxiumum a year, usually.

Not too sure how you rate greats. I always go with accomplishments, longevity, coming back from the brink, quality of opposition. Usual criteria. If I'm split on two fighters and who to rate the highest over the other, skill gets taken into consideration.

 

I can't think of any active fighters who deserve a place on Manassa's list. I'm talking about fighters over the last 30 years. He's only got Monzon and Duran anywhere near "modern era".

 

McGrain. Tell me this. Who were the best fighters ever to come out of Inverness?.

 

Why is Fitzsimmons so noticably absent in this thread?

 

Sorry about an earlier post, Dempsey. I somehow overlooked what you had written in this one regarding Fitz.

 

I don't know if he's number one, but he definitely deserves a mention in a top 5 or 10 list.

 

Marciano doesn't get mentioned much either. He ticks all the boxes apart from skill and quality of opposition. Not saying he never fought legends, because he did. Louis, Charles, Moore, etc. Great names, but the timing was bad for Rocky, as he got most at the tail end of their careers. Great on paper, but not too good under the magnifying glass.

Marciano maybe deserves a top 15-20 placing.
