There have been too many legends throughout history too give Robinson this distinction automatically. Most people do this and dont consider other all-time greats before him, his contemporaries, or those who fought after him. Most look at him as the golden standard as being the best pound for pound, and for good reason.

In my honest opinion, I believe he is top three but the greatest fighter of all-time is Homicide Hank Armstrong.

. He fought middleweight champion Ceferino Garcia to a draw in a fight many thought that he had won. So that is a possible four weight classes he could have claimed the championship in. Not only this he did so without having the prototype p4p style, he was an all action swarmer, with impressive handspeed, very sharp puncher, deceptive reflexes and an underrated defense.

Included wins over Baby Arizmendi, Peter Serran, Al Bunny Davis, Mike Belloise, Frankie Klick, Benny Bass, Albert Chalky WRIGHT, Barney Ross, Lou AMbers, Midget Wolgast, Lew Jenkins, Ceferino Garcia, Tippy Larkin, Sammy Angott, and Willie Joyce and lost past his prime to Robinson, Zivic, and Beau Jack.

He does have a good case to challenge Robinson for the number 1 spot but i thinnk Robinson barely edges him out. It could also be because he fought at higher weight classes that people overlook Armstrong since that tends to happen alot.

Yeah size may have something to do with it but Armstrong held titles from 126-147 and has the most defenses all-time(20) at welterweight where people consider Robinson to be the G.O.A.T. coming from a guy that started below 126 lbs. and defending at 147lbs. that a great feat. Whereas Robinson won titles at two weights.

Nothing at all wrong with having Armstrong at #1. To my mind there are only 4 guys who have rock solid cases, him being one of them. The others are Greb, Langford and Robinson. Want to make a case for him being at #1 - or anyone else being at #1 - you need to make it over these others. It can be done with Armstrong, no question.

Imagine if he hadn't been robbed in his bid for the MW crown?
