Wills had a great resume it just that Ali seems to go over two different generation of greats from Liston to Foreman.

I disagree with Charles as #1.

In fact I'd be ready to nominate:

Michael Spinks: Emerged as the best fighter in a talent laden LHW division. Charles seems to get the benefit of the doubt because of his success at Heavyweight lets not forget that Spinks beat the HW Champ Larry Holmes 2x.

Archie Moore: After being denied for so long the chance at the title he got his shot at Maxim and never looked back. Yes I'm aware that Charles beat him thrice. But he was a champion and a long time elite fighter in the LHW Division.


Charles was never champion so that automatically detracts from ranking. His resume certainly is worth a mention which is why he should be a top 3 candidate.

 

Oh no, sorry, there aint no1 takin' number 1 from Charles at 175, despite him being absolutely amazin in the ring - what more can a fighter do other than build up a great resume (in terms of claiming to be number 1 in a division's history)??. Now look at Charles' , enough said, he was definitely the best of a golden era of that division, not debatable.

I respect people's opinions, but you are wrong here.

I have done the Moore argument to death, he fought in tough times, and a class era at 175, but he has plenty of losses to fighters you won't know, he was a dtermined man, a great man. But in his prime (and spare me the argument of when his prime actualy was), his form was always up and down. And wether he 'won' the second Charles fight or not, he still bumped into Charles 3 times in that golden era, and met his master - fighting a trilogy with the other elite member of your era and coming out second gives the other guy a big edge over you.

Charles and Robinson are the only locks for number 1 ATG in the 8 classic divisions, Charles bein' the totaly undebatable 1. Robinson aswell imo (but some have argued Armstrong)

 

I do, i think it is the tightest top 5 there is. I do have Greb at number 1 i think now! But its so hard, Hagler and Monzon i wouldnt go crazy about, if sum1 had them at the top. But i actualy beliieve there is an argument for Robinson, reason being that i believe him to have fought in 160's golden era and emerged as number 1 when well past his best. Its a different angle to use in this type of ranking, but i think its viable.

But imo, ive got Greb as number 1.
