Hagler-Hearns and Sanchez-Gomez are worthy of inclusion.

Not going for tit for tat but you made an excellent point also re Ali and Joe bringing out the best in one another. Leonard vs Hearns 2 played out similarly despite pre fight beliefs that Tommy was that much more faded than Ray.

FOTC has mentioned too many of them, to repeat, so...
    Lennox Lewis Vs Vitali Klitschko
A great result in the last fight of his career, against the younger generation that will rule for the next decade.

True because on the night of March 8 1971 in Madison Square Garden, Joe Frazier was the defending World Heavyweight Champion, he stopped Buster Mathis on March 4 1968 for the 5 state title, then Jimmy Ellis for the WBA title on Feb 16 1970. Muhammad Ali was returning as a challenger, only 18 rounds of activity after a 43 month banishment from boxing. Ali was stripped of his title on April 28 1967 after refusing military induction, Ali was also stripped of his boxing license.

While I wouldn’t say it’s the greatest title defense in history, it’s one of the best on film from an earlier era: Tony Canzoneri v Kid Chocolate.

My candidate for the most dramatic defense of all time is Jacob LaMotta-Laurent Dauthuille, September 13, 1950

LaMotta, way behind in scoring on all three scorecards, plays possum in the last minute of the 15th round and kayos Dauthuille with 13 seconds left to retain his title.

Excellent call. Sanchez was so on point and upheld an amazing chin at the same time. After a nightmare first round Gomez remained heroic til the end but Sanchez was never going to be denied. Great fight.
