Cotto had his chances...Just like Arum came with an deal...and got it done with Pac....he never did that with Cotto. After Cotto beat Mosley his Popularity was Higher than ever...Instead of Aggressively trying to get a deal done with Floyd...He fights the 4th place finisher of a reality show (The Contender) Alfonso Gomez.

Floyd had a choice in 2006 between Margarito, who's only claim to fame was beating Kermit Cintron (oooohhhh) or a "Linear Champ" Carlos Baldomir for more money...A fight by the way, everyone wanted to see...

Remember this Quote from Dan Rafeal of ESPN "Floyd has never faced a Pressure Fighter like Baldomir who just proved that he has too much power versus any fighter with speed by DESTROYING Judah...This will be Floyd's First loss!"

Cotto still had his chances AGAIN...but got destroyed by Margarito.
And all Cotto had to do was beat Pacqiauo and a fight with Floyd was a done deal...JUST LIKE PAC!!!

Shane had his chances also...Back in '99-'00...And then had more chances recently but looked AWFUL against Mayorga and EVEN MORE TERRIBLE against Vargas 1...before a far better showing against Margarito.

And its so damn funny that "everyone" (mostly forum posters) finds it so easy to say Floyd "duck" the Legit Welters...Yet he goes to 154lbs to fight the #2 Light Middleweight at the time in Oscar de La Hoya.

Your post is merely the START OF THE EXCUSES that will begin in early morning hours of MARCH 14TH!!!!:-(

The only part I agree with is that Floyd will win. How the hell has Floyd fooled anyone into believing Pac can beat him? He's maintained for years that Pac is not on his level. And how can a guy who is a decorated amateur, an olympic medalist, a 6 time champion who won his first title over a decade ago, and who has been one of the top p4p fighters since that time be taking shortcuts?

Floyd has more than earned his position in the sport. However, some just don't want to give the guy his props. Mayweather did not rank Pacquiao no.1 p4p, Mayweather is not the one who went around saying Pacquiao was the best fighter of all time, Mayweather is not the one who said Pacquiao is a once in a generation fighter. The boxing public, and the media are the ones who have built Pac up. They are the ones who dubbed Pacquaio as the man to beat in boxing. Mayweather is simply doing what the boxing public and the media are demanding. And I can guarentee you that if Floyd wins this fight, he will be fighting Shane at the end of 2010 should Shane win. At that point, we can have threads about how Mayweather hatched some master plan have Mosley built up as some unstoppable monster only for Floyd to "cherrypick" him when he was old. Just face the facts people, Mayweather is a great fighter. Until his skills deteriorate, it's going to be very hard for anyone to beat him.

I get it, you prefer Mayweather fights Mosely cause it will be a more equal fight in terms of size, I would also like to see Mayweather vs Mosely, but I would also like to see Mayweather Pacquiao, and that's not just because Mayweather tricked me into believing Pacquiao has a chance. Pac have done alot in the past years to deserve this fight imo, and he's built up his own hype and fame, now Mosely is still the champ at 147 and I would like to see him get a big fight against either of these guys as fast as possible, but he has just not created the same superstar status as Pac has, maybe cause he's too nice or because FMJ vs SSM lacks the nationality clash that Pac v FMJ has.
Floyd is not the first guy to pick fame and money over legitimacy and honor.

ummm I'm pretty sure beating a legit welter weight for the title makes you a legit welter weight. As long as you weigh within the welter weight limit, you my friend are a legit welter weight.

That's another thing though, the fight with Pacquiao is considered the more legitimate fight. Floyd will get more credit if he were to beat Pac than he ever would if he beat Mosley.

IMO Floyd has to be around a 3-1 favorite. I don't see Pacquiao beating him but you never know.

  10. Part of me suspects this is what's going to happen, but PAC keeps defying our predictions and stomping on them. How can you write him off?

I thought, like everyone else, he would get beat down by DLH. Kicked his ass.

I figured Hatton would be a bit strong for him. Kicked his ass.

After seeing Hatton get smashed, I woke up and predicted PAC by beat down against Cotto.

PAC has all this momentum behind him and an X factor where we don't know what great thing he is going to do next.

    Silly to say he can't.

Here's a dose of reality, Bone.

Mayweather didn't fight the best Welterweights because there was too much risk for the money he'd be earning. However, he will beat Manny Pacquiao and he is a very special fighter. But there was only one reason he didn't fight Cotto and Margarito, and we both know what that reason was.

Do you see the problem here? How can you, on one hand, say it will be a very tough fight for Mayweather, and then turn around and say if Floyd wins it shouldn't help his status much? Who cares if Pac is a former flyweight? Floyd is a former SFW, does that mean guys who started out at Welter shouldn't get much credit if they beat Floyd?

Pac has a chance but his best chance is a win based on higher activity in a boring fight.

Those that are really fooling themselves are the ones believing PBF will get knocked out or seriously hurt in this fight. Pac aint a one punch KO guy, he breaks them down (except Hatton but thats Hatton). Pac aint going to land consistently enough to break down and stop PBF, he will land a few good ones but its not going to KO mayweather.

EXACTLY! Why would anyone want to fight Pac then? He beats you and get all the praises you could possibly get while if you beat him you dont get a quarter of the praises? If anything Pac's greatest trick was that he made ppl believe he can beat Floyd.
