really i thought that aswell but.....his left hand was brutal especially in the hiegher weights. sparked a few dudes. his left hook to the body cracked ribs differently. wanna swap hearns with pipino then? This content is protected
I didn't make this topic with the intent of trying to place two fighters over others, and I'm not denying that Marciano and Liston are indeed fighters that can KO with two hands, but I respectfully disagree. Foreman has an absurdly high career KO count and percentage, and Dempsey still holds the career 1RKO record for the HW division(coming from days where you had to really KTFO someone to get that on your record). I think Marciano and Liston have better boxing skills than either, but this is just about punching. I understand the dislike and agree with you, but while he was there he was enjoyable, and he clearly helped revive interest in the lower weight classes, so I like him. Like I said, not denying that he had a good left, I just think that Hearns primarily depended on his right for those KOs. I always felt that the difference showed when his right started breaking.
he WAS fun to watch, and maybe was the hardest hitting featherweight of all time, but he lacked the fundementals, and was quite a flawed fighter. still great to watch though
Hamed was a great, unorthadox fighter, with huuuuge power, good chin, and more charisma than half of the fighters in history put together, what's not to like?
Him being one of the biggest jackasses in all of boxing's history is a pretty solid reason not to like him.
:smoochok well yeah, at feather i have no problems with him being ranked the hardest hitter BUT 1. he was an arrogant ****. most of it was tongue in cheek ala eubank. but really he was a dick 2. his fundamentals where **** poor. he knew what he was doing most of the time but sadly it led to a decade of yorkshire chavs switchitting and getting sparked in the process, could argue that he halved the success rate of british boxers the last 8 years.
He accepted defeat didn't he? Right after the fight he gave full credit to Barrera. I don't know if he made excuses thereafter but he seemed ok about it from what i've seen. I don't have a problem with him being cocky, maybe it's a bit annoying but i didn't mind it personally. I have more of a problem with morally wrong **** like what McLellan got up to. No disrespect to the man, because of the state he's in.
I genuinely believe that Ezzard Charles might have been one of the greatest punchers - or at least, a technician first and foremost, but one who could pull a knockout punch out of the bag against any opponent. The evidence is there on film, and even more exists on record.
I dislike the morally wrong stuff more, but I also greatly dislike the jackasses such as Pernell Whitaker, Nazim Hamed, and Hector Camacho Sr.
