Outside the ring? Henry "Snow" Flakes: This content is protected BUFFALO, N.Y., March 6 "(UPI)--Henry (Snow) Flakes, 31, once regarded as a promising heavyweight boxer, was sentenced to die in the electric chair today for the murder of a clothing store owner in a holdup." Flakes was executed at Sing Sing. I'm posting this from another site: Henry Flakes was considered the best young heavyweight in the world in the late 1940s and he had the potential and tools to become the next great heavyweight champion. As you see, he started his career off with a bang. at only 20 years old, he knocked out ATG lloyd marshall in only his 8th pro bout! Flakes also beat top 10 heavyweight contenders pat comiskey and lee oma. Henry at 20-2-1 at only 20 years old in 1949 was now being touted as the best young prospect in the country. Lee Oma said about Snow Flakes "this kid would be a tough fight for anybody."
Thanks Pup. That quote is going in my book in the Zivic section. No worries. We always bend the Ravens over in the playoffs if we have all of our starters. This time should be no different. Pardon the cut n paste, but just a reminder: The two teams have met in the postseason three times, all resulting in Steelers wins. All-Time Series This content is protected : 21 wins. BAL: 14 wins OUCH! That hurts....
Larry Holmes in a way , due to his personality. Jack Johnson because of what he was doing with women at a time when it was completely unheard of, and he was doing it in public too. Mayweather more pantomine villians than actual bad guys. Tyson after the bite fight became boxing public enemy number 1, up until the Lewis fight. MAyorga was more of a joker than a villian Liston was a hated figure up until the Ali fights, he was surprised people were actually rooting for him (because they hated Ali even more) Todays villian is (or until last night, was) MArgarito, due to his hand wraps controversy
But were not talking dirty fighters as such just ones that were perceived to be the "bad guy" when squaring off in the ring. Carter had a mean persona with the shaven head and scowl and his attitude and rep as a hard arse outside the ring just added to that.
that's a matter of perception. if the adult is say you're brother or father and the child is someone you don't know ??? and a life is a life. who is to say the life of a child is worth more then the life of an adult ?? further on i am not defending robinson for this. but those where different times man. 60 years ago most man beat there woman
The best pantomime villain of them all. With hindsight, it seems a bit strange that Benn was a face for them fights. Benn was probably best in his tweener role in the States (good guy for the Brits, but Americans seemed to hate him). He was not too bad playing the cocky, arrogant heel against Watson though. Naseem was just terrible playing the villain; he did not get it, like Eubank did. The Klitschko's should of gone down the path of villainy for the British and American markets, it would of got them over a lot more, and made them a ton more money, and ultimately a lot more popular.
Ali pre-Foreman was pretty hated. A black muslim, Pro-Black, anti-segregation, torturing Terrell. Was it Patterson or Terrell who said 'I'm bringing the title back to America'??
