The gulf in class between usa and europe in boxing...

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by Phill-Mitchell, Sep 9, 2012.

  1. Even now, in possibly the lowest point of boxing popularity, The USA still conjures up special fighters, on another level to the best that Europe has ever had.

Also you can see guys like broner dominating.

There will be more coming through.

It wouldn't shock me If wilder and Mitchell sparked out price and fury and took over from the klitschko brothers.

    Why does this gulf exist?

Is it down to training, or are African Americans genetically better?

    PEDs

I disagree fundamentally, a niche sport in a small country and we still constantly produce guys who do well on the world stage. Regardless I understand your point I think it could be to do with the style they are taught, think of black legendary boxers in America SRL, Mayweather, Ali all of them could be described as slick. Young guys coming up have these as rolemodels so want to be masterful slick boxers. In the UK the heroes are guys like Hatton, Benn hard men who loved a ruck and at the top level Boxers beat brawlers alot more often than the other way round. Just a thought.

Wilder has fought NOBODY of his last 5 opponents (fights 20-25) only ONE has had a winning record coming into the fight with 27 combined losses. They make Fury's competiton look top notch.

I honestly think David Haye is one of the most naturally talented fighters on the planet.

he's just unlucky he's big lol.

Imagine a 168 version of Haye, he'd be a ****ing nightmare. Nobody can handle his power, and he has the speed to land on just about anyone.

it's just throw him in with 6'6" man mountains and the size tells.

The Klitchkos still rule the world. David Haye is better than any US heavyweight. Actually I can't think of a single heavyweight that is at all relevant.

But on the whole, US produces better pure boxers based on their style of boxing. Europeans produce much better amateurs, not all of them cross over or convert well into the pros

Do you think there is a class gap flea?

or are you just here to disagree with everyone and not add anything to the discussion?

I think the next generation of Americans will struggle. Their amateur setup is horrendous.

As for Haye, well overrated, poor balance, little technical nous and a below average chin.

As for 'class gap' the country is f'n huge; always gonna' be some awesome fighters from there and less talent coming out of Britain.

i think in the HW division it is slave genes, when your bred to be bigger,stronger,faster... you will be. look at the nfl 17% if the population is black but 90% of the nfl is black.

they have more fighters in total aswell. that has to count for something.
