The Guys that could have given Hagler an hard fight?

I’d say Pavlik would give Hagler a good go.

 

Duran and Leonard for sure, as they did not even being natural middleweights. Roy Jones, James Toney, Jake LaMotta, Carols Monzon, Harry Greb, Ray Robinson, Bob Fitzsimmons, there are many others. Hagler is overrated IMO, although he was tough and in shape he wasn't a thinking man's fighter at all. I tend to agree with Ray Arcel's assessment.

 

Marcos Geraldo gave Marvin a very good fight — Hagler had to sweep the last three rounds to pull out a close decision (although if it were a 15-rounder, I think Marvin would wear him down and stop him).

I think Sumbu Kalambay is all wrong for Marvin and Michael Nunn is just a difficult proposition for anyone style-wise. I also wonder if Mike McCallum might keep Hagler off-balance and pick him apart.

If you want to ask me who STOPS Marvin … I think it could only happen on cuts. Dude’s jaw was granite wrapped in titanium.

Rodrigo Valdes would give Hagler a hell of a fight. He´s tough, great stamina and terrific power (I believe the only fighter to knock out Bennie Briscoe and only the 2nd man to drop Monzon).

Could be outboxed so I think the Hagler from the Briscoe, Hart and Sibson fights would survive some bombs to score a close decision fight but it would be a classic.
