Escluding McCall and Rahman which boxer gave Lewis the most trouble in a single game? Holyfield, Mercer or who do you think? I think: 1) Mercer 2) Vitali 3) Holy2 4) Holy1 5) Bruno 6)Tyson 7) Briggs
Though Lewis was able to control most of the fight, he was unable to score a knockdown over Mavrović. Lewis was able to land several power punches through the fight, but the punches had seemingly little effect on Mavrović who stood his ground and let Lewis tire himself out by throwing a large amount of punches.
1) Holyfield, by his own admission, was the toughest, Though a case can be made for Mercer. 2) Ray Mercer, since he almost beat him. 3) Vitali 4)Briggs 5) Frank Bruno 6)Tony Tucker I don't think Tyson belong in that list, though he might have taken the number 1 spot had Lewis fought the 1988 one under Rooney.
I would say Vitale or Mercer. He was pushed to the brink in those fights. Holyfield was tough but I though Lewis won both of those fights convincingly.
Mercer for me. Bruno gave him a hard time but his Ko loss was kind of inevitable. But Mercer took him to a tight decision. If it was a 15 round s then Ray could maybe have taken it?
Maybe it was just understatement so as not to seem arrogant. I think it was mentally harder than boxing-wise.He knew about Mike's strength...knew that he only had to be careless for a second to lose a fight that was clearly going his way. For me Mercer & Vitali
Nah, it’s like those best I faced lists where the boxer always rates a fighter that he beats as the best he faced. Everyone knows Tyson was shot as hell but Lewis just wants to validate his victory by saying Tyson was still a very good and dangerous fighter. If you ask him what his best an most impressive victories were, I would bet a million bucks he would list the win against Tyson on it.
I trusted that interview where he argues Tyson was one of his hardest fights. Very probably instead Is as you say.
