Well George Chuvalo said the hardest puncher he ever faced was Mike DeJohn, so I assume he should be somewhere on the list, given Chuvalo's famous ability to take a punch.

True, Chuvalo did mention being buckled by DeJohn's uppercut, but is this an isolated incident, or is there a consensus of opinion among DeJohn's other opponents to support that he hit that consistently hard?

Foreman has said Lyle hit him the hardest of anybody he got nailed by, but Ron's power never seemed quite as devastating before or since the Foreman war, at least not to judge by the other available footage of Lyle's work.

Foreman definitelty hit harder than Tyson, Lewis, or anybody not named Shavers or Liston. He just didn't have the hand speed or punching form to get alot of one punch knockouts like Tyson and Lewis. Look what he did to Frazier, nobody did that to Frazier. Anybody who punches as slow and wide as Foreman who got all those knockout's had to have hit extremely hard. Foreman isn't in the Top 5 best overall puncher's, but he is one of the hardest hitter's ever.

Oh? I don't know about that one. He would likely slug it out with the "huge" heavys and beg them to KO that piece of granite Rocky called his chin.

You don't end up with 43 KOs at HW without a HUGE punch.

In any event, can you explain at what weight huge punching power begins regarding HWs?

I cant say at what weight huge punching power beguns, but usually the more massive the guy, the harder he will hit. Rocky was one of the smallest heavyweights of all time and nowadays he would be barely a cruiserweight.

Do you really think he could hit as hard as someone like Foreman? I dont think they are in the same league with punching power

Yep, he wasn't a very big guy for a HW boxer.

Foreman hit very hard at HW, so did Marciano. I think Foreman may have hit a VERY SMALL amount harder, but I have nothing to really base that on. Neither do you.

Well true, I dont much to base this off of. Unless you know where I can see a video of Rocky hitting the bag up close(Ive seen Tyson, Louis, and Foreman with Foreman looking the hardest)then its hard to tell.

Btw, what do you mean by shavers' milk toast?

This raises an interesting question. Striking impact and handspeed can usually be thought of as going together, but there have been exceptions who were not so fast. Foreman is one example, and Danny Lopez was another. Perhaps Liston might be considered as a third such individual. (Shavers and Marciano did have underrated handspeed. But Rocky was much faster than Rex Layne, and the double hook he took out Kid Matthews with struck like lightning.)

Liston??? He's right in that bracket, easily. I could never leave Lewis out either.

JT, well spotted. I forgot Liston and Lewis. Those four came into my brain first.
