I saw on Boxrec, he was older than Ali and still fighting into the mid 90s...

Then again Ed Strickland is an automatic mark on your record, regardless of what age you are lol

Holy ****, poor guy retired with a record of 0-32. I wonder how optimistic he was at 0-25?

Ali also said Shavers hit him the hardest. If I remember right.

Great thread. I really, really enjoyed Chris Byrd's comments. What a down to earth guy.

    A surprisingly charismatic man, I agree. He's refreshingly to-the-point.

http://basementgymboxing.blogspot.com/2014/08/quotes-about-power-leroy-caldwell-on.html There Leroy Caldwell stats Foreman, Shavers, Bruno, and Cleveland Williams all had the same punching power. Larry Holmes also said Butterbean punched harder than Tyson. Larry Holmes also stated Joe Frazier punched harder than Tyson even though Holmes never faced Joe Frazier. James Tillis was knocked out stupid in 1 round by Tim Witherspoon and Tommy Morrison yet stated Shavers a guy who couldn't knock him out punched him harder. You see that logic? This is why you can't trust some people when asked who punched them the hardest unless they are consistent and make sense.

Chris Byrd's opinion seems valid and I agree with him that Wlad punches harder than Vitali. Most of Vitali's best "knockouts" in his career he didn't even know his opponent down and they were late round stoppages. For example his stoppage of Ross Purritty, Vaughn Bean, and Larry Donald.

Just an aside, Louis said the man who hit him the hardest was Al Delaney!
    Delaney's ko% is 24%

Phil Jackson, who also fought both Lewis and Wladimir, claims that Wladimir hit harder "with both hands. You could feel it."

The claim is not so far fetched that it can be dismissed without evidence.

What I would have to say however, is that Delaney is so far down the contender list of the era, that he wouldn't really fit into the picture anywhere, even if it were true!

All any fighter can say is who hit HIM the hardest, that doesn't make him the hardest puncher , just the hardest puncher in that man's personal experience.

I'm in that Twitter conversation with Foreman ( if I unblock myself by procedure i could show it, I was blocked on it bc punk Showtime shill Brendan Shaub reported me for going at him ) anyway he is an example of changing stances. One just has to look at certain fights to see when they took the harder punch and when.

Misrepresentation also happens Holyfield saying Foreman hit him the hardest but then makes it clear that Tyson didn't land many clean punches on him.

If a fighter fights the same guys it's USUALLY true but then there's actual video evidence that easily disproved these claims like Holmes getting defeated in 4 rounds to Tyson but claims Shavers who hit him constantly and still lost in 2 fights hits harder..that just doesn't work.fights

Who hits harder or hardest is the one showing consistency and added to what level they fight at.

Some not all fighters opinion should be enforced to support a claim and when they made the claim.bc fighters are not honest most of the time and that's usually to make themselves look better or they don't like a fighter .

case in point with the last statement.

Briggs claimed Vitali hit harder then Foreman , but Foreman was not Holyfield or even Morrison , Foreman at the time . And Briggs defeated Foreman .

The one considered hardest to stop next to Foreman was maybe Ray Mercer who claimed Morrison hit him the hardest , one has to take this seriously even though Mercer won it was obviously due to lack of stamina by Morrison.

This would also point to how hard Klitschko really hits even to a bit aged Mercer who was very motivated, and so on.......
