I like both guys at CW but Usyk in particular has the power to give any HW problems. Parker got no respect from AJ Roboto and he's 30-40 pounds heavier than Uysk.

Usyk will fight at around 220-225 as a HW. And Joshua won’t respect Oleksandr’s power? Well he will respect the hell out of Usyk’s hand speed, ring IQ and footwork by the end of the 1st round when they fight. And if he doesn’t OH WELL. Lol Joshua will still get his face boxed in.

And Gassiev will have NASTY power at HW. He’ll scramble Anthony’s brains.

    The HW division is ''cracking''

    It's ''cracking'' I tell thee

    The HW division is ''cracking''

''Deontay Wilder's biggest Cuban test was Luis Ortiz''

''Mike Tyson's biggest Cuban test was Jose Ribalta''

''The HW division is so cracking that if you took AJ and Wilder out, I still wouldn't give a **** about GGG vs Canelo because you still got the Dillian Whyte's, the David Haye's, the Tony Bellew's.. if you take our top 2 out we're still winning in the HW division''

I can understand the opposing view but for me this is the funnest the division has been in a long time.

The high high quality might be lacking but I think its an overall solid group.... I rate AJ, Wilder, Ortiz and Povetkin. Potential mega fight on the horizon between Wilder n AJ. Parker and Ruiz are solid. Fury is a wildcard in the waiting and Whyte, Haye, Chisora will make for fun and intetesting fights whoever they are matched with.

    Eh... I like it.

But yes the actual quality is not that great but I dont think its that bad compared to the last 10 years or so.

I have a different take on this thread. Wilder is best of the division, so ppl **** on the division. The reality is that there's a lot of competitive fights that can made and that's a quality division in my eyes. Biggest problem with these big guys is their stamina to bang but you know that going in. April Fools or not CST80 stumbled onto the next hater narrative after Wilder destroys AJ.

You're probably right, ironically that was the last thing on my mind when writing it. Damn it. That being said, Wilder will destroy AJ, and Povetkin like I said he would 2 years ago. I hope Wilder is the last man standing, and he gets full credit from me when he and if he is. But... I'm being pretty consistent with my criticism of it, nothing personal against any of the fighters in it, I just haven't been thrilled with HW since the early 2000's, even during Wlad's reign, (all the while I respected Wlad) but nothing I've seen recently has changed that POV.

Even the 90's wasn't that deep with elite talent. Look at the Ring Magazine top 10's from the era, lots of forgettable names in the Whyte/Miller bottom top 10 range. There's a lot of myth about how boxing was in the past. I think this era is more exciting than the previous. Yeah, you stumbled on a narrative that could be used but I've already was anticipating it. Can't wait.

Not to sound all elitist or anything, but things are looking way up at Minimumweight. There's 3 guys there at the moment, that are all next level brilliant, Hiroto Kyoguchi, Ryuya Yamanaka and Mark Antony Barriga, all three are capable of beating Menayothin and Niyomtrong. So the 5 way dance between them over the next year or so has piqued my interest big time.

Same goes for Super Fly, not only is Sor Rungviasi, Estrada and Gonzalez still there, Inoue could possibly move back down, (highly doubtful), but also there's Cuadras, Arroyo, Ancajas, Yafai, Moloney, Tso who are all entertaining, Casimero is still capable of pulling a few upsets, as is Sultan, and then there's Wenfeng Ge, who's an incredibly skilled Chinese fighter who recently dominated 12-0 Ruenroeng in a one sided beatdown. So neither of those divisions are in that bad a shape.

First post in a long time I completely agree with. Been watching boxing since mid-70's, back in the so-called golden age of heavyweights, and the 90's was a close second IMO. So let's look at the list of top guys from the 70s:

    Ali
    Frazier
    Foreman
    Holmes
    Norton
    Young
    Shavers

    And the 90s:

    Lewis
    Bowe
    Holyfield
    Tyson
    Tua
    Mercer
    Ruddock
    Golota

Look at video of any of these guys and compare to the guys of today. All of the guys of the 70s/90s had much better overall ring skills (particularly punch technique) than any of today's guys. The thing that sticks out most with today's guys is they just don't don't know how to punch with effective technique or put together fluid combinations. I don't know if it's superior training that existed back then or today's fighters just don't have the natural ability or what it is. But for anyone who watched those past guys fight there is no way you can tell me that today's fighters are anywhere close in quality to the fighters from those decades. And to throw in the Klitschkos in their primes would easily handle today's guys as well.

Now- that said, that doesn't mean that we can't have some fights that are entertaining and fun to watch. I'd put some of the Wlad/Joshua and Wilder/Ortiz rounds up with some of the best of those eras. So if we can get some exciting, entertaining fights, I'll take it!

Wilder is in no way the best of this delapidated division. Povetkin, Parker, AJ all take him to school. I'll concede that he may be better than we thought, physically. Skills wise, he's abysmal.
