given the fact he still wanted revenge on jones even though jones just got blown out in his previous fight...i'm surprised he hasnt tried to make this fight. i'm sure he's still upset about "hbo's boy" getting his titles.

At 175...maybe, considering he's never faught at 175, but even at this point, I'm not sure how you arrive at this conclusion considering Hopkins has proven he doesn't have the pop to drop JT, much less knock him out. He isn't busy enough, and won't work hard enough to win a decision against JT, so I'm not sure how you would expect him to win. He obviously felt and respects JT's power and there is nothing to indicate this has faded considering he dropped Pavlik and Froch, something I'm confident Hopkins couldn't do. BHop wouldn't take enough chances to beat Jermain then because he was so worried about getting KO, I don't see how you would be so confident that a 5 to 6 year older version would be any more willing to "fight" JT.

Taylor was always WAY overrated. Hyped like hell by HBO, they got him gift decisions against Hopkins (twice) and Wright, and then he fought lighter weight guys until he was exposed. He deserves all the criticism he gets, because basically he was a fraud. Without HBO and Hopkins unpopularity with the boxing establishment, he would have lost to Bernard twice! It's a crime what they did to Hopkins.

I thought he was 1-2 against Winky & Bhop. I thought Winky clearly beat him in a great fight and that Bhop clearly beat him in the first fight. The second fight could've gone either way and I have no problem with Taylor getting the nod. He's disappointing in the sense that his career could've been better as he had the tools but didn't have the ring IQ to use them. Nervous energy got the best of him and he never really learned how to get relaxed in there. Nevertheless, I give JT his well-deserved props. He does deserve at least one decision against Bhop imo and in his day he was damn good. I quetion the Spinks victory but Spinks wa a good fighter himself and I haven't seen that fight in years so I can't hold a strong opinion on it. The last time I looked at Pavlik-Taylor 2 I thought JT possibly won that and I might do a thread on that. The two other guys he lost to(Abraham & Froch), he still gave them good fights and they're still very good fighters with their young careers ahead of him. Even if people like me feel like Bhop won their first fight & Winky deserve the nod, the fact is Taylor was a damn good fighter and only lost to very good/great(Winky&Hopkins if you feel like I do) fighters and there's no shame in that.

I think Jermaine Taylor is a great guy. Every time he was interview or on TV I just thought more and more what a great man he is. For the first time in my life when he fought Froch I was rooting for him so badly. I was sick to my stomach when i saw him get KO'ed.
For his family and life I hope he hangs it up. One more KO could change his future. He has accomplished enough and got paid well above his boxing skills.

JT has had his chin shattered not once, but twice, but THRICE!!!

At 175, where Hopkins was a champ, his punch output has been higher as he hasnt had to drain himself to make weight, which was an issue in his later 160 lb fights.

Also, JT doesnt have the pop to stop or even hurt Hopkins. JT cant even compete at 168, let alone 175.

Hopkins is still fighting at a championship level. JT is coming off 2 brutal KOs, and his stamina is awful!!

He is done, at least Hopkins is still fighting!

This is why Taylor is at home, nursing his broken chin, and why Hopkins still fights on.

Duane Ford will have to take scoring rd 12 for Taylor to the grave. Knowing he robbed Hopkins of Middleweight History. If he gives Hopkins the round which Hopkins won by a country mile with Jermaine landing 2 punches, Hopkins keeps his title. Taylor lost almost every round from 6-12. I agree 2 robberies all because of greed.

Exactly. Bernard Hopkins is 10 times the fighter Taylor ever was. What they did to him to build up the career of HBOs latest poster boy was criminal. Justice HAS been served in the end, however, as you note!

Jermain the man was always extremely likable. I never felt good about criticizing him, but I'd say most of the criticism was warranted. He became the middleweight champ in a fight where he landed almost nothing and was battered over the final third, made lackluster defenses against junior middleweights who even stole rounds off of him, robbed Winky, generally regressed in technique until the Pavlik rematch, and then paid for his terrible tactical decisions and inattention to technique when he moved up.

I wish him nothing but the best and definitely don't "hate" him, but his career is a cautionary tale for talented young fighters. Just because you hit the big time doesn't mean you get to stop progressing as a fighter. Taylor never developed significantly after taking/ stealing Bernard's crown, and I don't think you can help but criticize him for that.
