As others have stated, JT was rushed to the top. Bernard wanted to punish Lou DiBella and he gave JT a shot he didn't really deserve. Also, JT has stated many times that he wasn't and isn't a boxing fan. He proved that by not knowing certain tricks of the trade, which caused him to get unessecary L's on his record. If he throws one damn uppercut in Pavlik v Taylor I, Pavlik would've been out cold. If he spits out his mouthpiece, takes a knee or grabs Froch by the neck and pulls both of them to the floor he wins that fight. Thats two L's off his record. However, when it is all said and done he was a good fighter who fizzled a little too soon.

again, i'm not saying he's an atg. i'm not saying that at all. what i'm saying is the hate he catches is bull****. he should be comended for getting in the ring w/ anyone and everyone. people who don't do that catch ****, and now people (like jermain) who do it and come up on the bad side of a loss catch ****.

and he wasnt that bad either. everyone saying he was robbed against hopkins and wright...well if really was that bad he wouldnt need a robbery to win. he shoulda got taken out by both or made to look stupid.

a lack of heart was never his problem. and his jaw isnt as bad as many think. he took that right hand from pavlik for 7 rounds, just gassed against froch and made it all the way till the end of the fight w/ abraham. his nervous energy (used as a result of the aforementioned nervous tic he's had since a kid) gasses him and he's basically out on his feet. a jab would have finished him against froch.

oh and by the way...just for old time's sake rico

then why did bernard struggle to leave no doubt on the judge's scorecards if he is 10 times the fighter jermain is? bernard does not have tough fights against fighters he is 10 times better than.

I don't understand how you can say memories are short and use Taylor as your example. The man never got respect even when he was at the top of the world. I agree that attitudes toward him were unfair, but it's anything but a new feeling.

I compare Taylor to Rahman. Well Taylor had 2 big wins and a big draw. Rahman had the one big win.

But that aside Taylor and Rahman both had excellent jabs and the ability to box very well. The problem came in their careers that they got away from the jab or got too willing to slug it out rather than box.

Rahman vs Tua and Maskaev both times had it in the bag and blew it.

Taylor had Froch in big trouble and was winning big time and gassed. He had Pavlik in trouble he emptied his guns and got KO'd

I think the second Pavlik fight for him was a good showing he boxed well avoided the brawl and did not eat a lot of right hands.

It was also a shame because Taylor in his last fight vs Abraham fought very disciplines threw the jab in bunches came behind with a right he went to the body he moved well

I had him lose to Wright and had Hopkins win the first fight

He had a good career to be proud of, he didnt really reach his potential or full ability

I guess the same can be said about Pavlik's reign

Taylor never improved and was beaten before he could break out.

Pavlik kept getting injured and had a lack luster field of opponents.

After the loss to Pavlik people still credited Taylor as one of the best MWs in the world. However when he lost to Carl Froch this forum turned on him in a major way! This is because Froch is wildly under-rated on here even though he beat the current LHW champ!

    Taylor is no bum/exposed hype-job

You're only as good as your last fight, this is one of the main problems in boxing.

I feel very bad for Jermain. His first performance against Hopkins could have gone either way. His second performance could have gone either way, but I leaned towards Hopkins. His performance with Winky could have gone either way, maybe a slight edge to Winky for backing him up so effectively but honestly as close to three draws as you can get in a row.

Then, ordinary against Ouma and good lord I thought Spinks outboxed him easily! I barely gave Jermain a round! The irony is his most dominant great performance was going to be his second round KO of Pavlik, the best he had looked since getting the title. And Pavlik miraculously won. And even that great dominance turned against him :(. And then I felt like he did enough in the rematch to win or draw with Pavlik, probably his last great fight. So he has had like at least six bad decisions in his career, more than Oscar. I would have a hard time being confident too.

But believe it or not Spinks should have been middleweight champion. Taylor just stood there looking at him all night. I felt Mayorga beat the crap out of Spinks. Taylor did not. weird.
