Danny Garcia is #1 at 140, undisputed. Lucas Matthysse comes up and makes some noise, knocking people out quickly, including Lamont Peterson. Lucas is easily established as the #2 guy at 140, and was #1 to some people. Everyone thought Garcia would duck, then when he accepted, they thought he'd lose (including me). Majority thought he'd get KO'd.

#1 @ 140 takes on #2 in a fight people thought he'd duck. "FIGHT THE BEST" because that's what the fans want.

Oh what short memory people have...

People tend to forget that Danny Garcia is not afraid to step up and give the people what they want, a true champion. After a tough fight, I think he wanted to take it easy but under estimated the tricky Herrera. Now he's taking a "smart" fight to transition into a new weight class (better than taking on the softest champ or draining them). Every fighter needs a confidence booster.

MY POINT? This proves that even if Mayweather fought Pacquiao in 2010, he'd still be considered a cherry picker if he fought Ortiz in 2011. It's the same situation.

Give Danny Garcia some credit and expect big things once he's fully transitioned into 147. He fought the best and established himself as the man at 140, he gave the people what they want. Give him credit and criticize him if he keeps taking fights like for 2 years. This is ONE tune up.

Danny, Floyd, and Ward are #1 in their division while beating the #1 or 2 to get there.. They are undefeated and hated.. The world loves to bring people up just to tear them down from a higher point...

The best guys in the division receive the most hate. Like you mentioned, Danny Garcia, Floyd, and Ward. So if you receive that much hate, you're successful. Plain and simple.

He should've lost that fight, his fans agree, I'm sure. But he's not a cherry picker now. It's not a PPV fight, there's no belt on the line, he's just using it to stay busy and transition into 147.

People dislike him because his father is one of the biggest clowns in boxing. People don't like his lackluster rapping abilities.

Fans don't like that Garcia goes into any fight with at least a three round edge on judges' scorecards.

The "Top Dog" at 140 is Herrera. Only Garcia groupies think he deserved anything more than a draw. Even the Showtime announcers on Golden Boy's payroll thought it was a bad decision.

Let me get this straight.. Danny, the boxer, is hated because his dad talks a lot, he can't rap, and judges have him an underserved win? Seems like a bunch of stuff not related to boxing or things he can't control...

I like Danny Garcia, but this fight isn't even at WW. Its a catchweight 142 lb. 10 rounder.

Its obviously a stay busy fight.

Still no justifying it though. You want the mantle of being the best at anything, to build your brand, you have to give the fans something they want. Fighting no hopers isn't the way to do it.
